We stayed at Five Oaks for three nights and it was our favorite of the six B&B's we stopped at in our two weeks in Newfoundland. Five Oaks is 15 - 20 minutes from St. John's city center and is easy to get to. Ann and Humphrey Dye are the proprietors, offering two rooms with a shared bathroom in their home in Topsail. The room and the bathroom were spotless, (as was the whole house). The beds were very comfortable, and Ann's full English breakfasts were great! Ann and Humphrey know the local area and St. John's very well and can make excellent recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing, hiking, etc. The property has a beautiful garden, the product of many years of tender care. Ann and Humphrey are warm, caring people who will do all they can to make their guests feel at home.

We are very experienced B&B users, and we think Five Oaks is a great value in the St. John's area. We'd recommend it to anyone for a nice getaway in the local area with quick, easy access... more
