Pleasant small hotel. Rooms cozy and comfortable, but a bit small. Staff pleasant. Parking was much less of a hassle than others have said. (On-street parking is free 6pm-8am, and Friday 6pm until Mon 8am; AND there is a ~$7 parking lot immed next door -- so no real problem) Downsides: -- when the George Street bars close, it IS... more

We've travelled the world and were in St. John's Newfoundland for a dear friends wedding. We can truly say that the accommodations are stellar for the rate, clean, modern and inviting. The beds are ultra comfortable with sheets that defy you to get out of bed in the morning. Whenever you do happen to get out of bed, wander downstairs... more

We stayed here 3 nights. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with any questions we had. They are putting in an elevator, but it was not finished yet, so they helped carry our luggage upstairs. The hotel is located in the heart of St John's, so there is the expected city noise, and there was construction outside the hotel... more

After being delayed by our wedding ceremony & hospitalization, the rude staff were very unhelpful and unsympathetic when we called to postpone our reservations to stay there. We were a few hours past their 48-hour-notice policy when we called. They gave us the "that's too bad" routine and promptly billed our credit card for the room that we would be... more

- Great location. - Has many shops, restaurants and bars along the street - Just across the street from George St but away from the madness. - Beautifully done room. - Room is clean, staff friendly and good service - we arrived at 8.30am and was checked-in, no problem. - Good food at the restaurant. - Free wireless connection. -... more

We were impressed by Blue on Water's website, promising us a "boutique hotel" feel with lots of personal attention. Some of the reviews we read beforehand also talked of personal service. Unfortunately we didn't see any. You check in with the waitress at the restaurant, and any time you need advice, help, or an extra towel its whoever is working... more

OK, Yankees, listen up. When you land in St. Johns & make your way to your lodging, you may think you're still in Omaha but you're not. You're in Canada - and one of its poorest provinces. So readjust your attitude. And if you're a Canadian, this ain't Alberta either. Rather this is the eastern most point of the North... more

We were swayed by the website photos only to find that we had to walk up two long flights of stairs .. the room was really tackie and small and the window opened onto a parking lot that filled with drunks at 2 in the morning when George street emptied They should probably stick to being a restaurant Allen Jones... more

The Blue on Water is simply the finest hotel I've stayed in. Everything was perfect! I managed to find some time off from work and took a solo trip to get away for a while (with blessings and permission from my wife). I've always wanted to visit Newfoundland and, with a few months of planning to spare, I booked a... more

I booked Blue on Water after reading the reviews here, and having stayed there I believe the reviews (both positive and negative) are accurate, and it really depends what you are looking for as to whether you should stay here or not. I travel for work and try to avoid the same bland hotels (Shearton's etc) when traveling for pleasure.... more
