Arrived at 9:30pm to a totally dark hotel. Reminder, the next ferry isn't for an hour and it was cooold! The owner came to the door astonished we were so late, although no one mentioned timing when I booked. If you can get over the owners smoking in the bar, hopefully turning up when you bang on the window a... more

It is a nice small family run hotel. Do not expect 5 stars hotel service. The owner and his wife provide personal touch to their guests. Parking lot for both cars & boats, even storage for my bikes. Suggestion for bike routes..etc. The four courses dinner package is a good deal.(Angus beef taste good). Restaurant staffs for dinner and breakfast... more

Reading the other reviews, I just have to say-WOW you all sound like spoiled foreign (American I assume) tourists! So the place isn't huge, and the outside is pretty shabby. The interior decor is a bit dated, and the place in general is a bit quite, but overall DEFINATLY worth the stay. The food in the casual dining room is... more

We booked this hotel from its web site after seeing the price for the package deal, $150 Cdn. for a queen bed, dinner and breakfast for 2 and they allowed small dogs. It seemed perfect until we read the reviews! We were very apprehensive but it was unwarranted. So the rooms weren't the Ritz but they were clean and had... more

A group of 16 of us went to the General Wolf for dinner on May 23, 2009. We had reservations and the restaurant was not busy. The service was extremely slow, the soup, when we got it , was lukewarm, the pheasant entree was very dry, the size of the meals were small, we were only asked once if we... more

Upon arrival to the 'reception' area (AKA bar), my first impression was that we must have gone in the wrong door. No, it wasn't a mistake, that was were you register for your room. [My suggestion to the owners is, not to renovate to include a reception-type desk as I think that would ruin the laid back atmosphere of the... more

Nothing about the hotel was built in 1860 and NOTHING about the hotel was remodel (MAYBE in 1960's or 1970's). Burn marks in carpet, dirt carpet and mold in shower area. The VERY RUDE owner (that did our check-in and showed us to our room) and RUDE staff (except for 1 or 2 people) it is not worth the stay.... more

We booked before reading the negative reviews so were a bit apprehensive and still more so after check-in at the Bar! We were very impressed with our room #3 - very clean & roomy. (Only thing missing was a coffee maker.) We had a large window with a beautiful view of the river from comfortable arm chairs. For the age... more

We made reservations in April for 2 rooms for the price of 75$ a room. When we arrived the manager told us that the man wasn,t vacating his room so we said ok give us another room and he said yes but we would have to pay more.He was rude and ignorant. They didn,t even have a place to check in.The rooms... more

I had planned my One-Year Anniversary with my Fiancee on Wolfe Island. The Island is a beautiful spot, and very quaint, we enjoyed cycling, exploring, and the fresh air - the only downside experienced there all day, was the rude experience and minimal expectations that met us at the General Wolfe Hotel. This ruined our anniversary. 'Checking-in' was alright, I... more
