First check-in staff, Jit, was ineffective because he got impatient and upset when I asked him to provide proof for incidential hold either today or at chekc-out. Jit refused even after I explained how I was screwed over and over again for the past 1.5 years throughout my trip with hotel stays with mistaken charge, when I trusted the hotels too much to not asking for receipt or supporting documents, nor hotels were willing to provide proof to help resolving mistaken charges. My lesson learned is to ask for supporting documents upon check-out. Jit also changed his answers on parking charges, which got me even more confused. He first said one day parking isn’t for 24 hours, then he said parking would be good until 3pm, then later he said it’s good until 11am, then he said he would do me a favor and extend until 3pm. And if I want it later, he would charge me more, for half a day to 6pm, for 15 CAD (or 45 CAD total), and until 9pm then 60 CAD (two full day rate). His definition of half of a day is not even 12 hours, but 10 hours. As you can see, his answers were inconsistent and confusing. I asked for another staff to help, who could explain better without confusion and with more accuracy. Aido, who is a better listener but still couldn't provide supportive documents. I shared how the Canadian hotels in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba automatically provided me with receipts when I did not even ask for me three months ago. The hotel manager, Melanie did provide a nice summary of the charges upon check-out which I appreciated. The room was fine, Aido accompanied me to walk the room to see if there is any issues. Housekeeping here did not do as a good job compared to last nights’. Found a short hair on a night stand on the window side, another hair on the electrical outlet next to the lamp next to TV, another small hair along the edge of the shower sliding door (all have taken pictures). Told Aido and he said he would bring to housekeeping’s attention. It still look dirty. They said they had no housekeeping in the evening. These are in obvious spots. Another one is a design issue, which probably is too late for them to do anything. That is, the sink faucet handle is about 2 to 2.5 inches away from the edge of the sink, too far, which caused water to spill over the edge to countertop rather than directly to the sink. Whoever install this did not think of this detail. Small things like this makes a big difference in terms of ease of use. Also, it ended up consuming more water to do the same thing. Great hot shower. Fully stocked toilet paper, and Kleenex. The window is up for cleaning. Parking spot is smaller/tighter, which is part of being in the city. This is a relatively less expensive hotel in the block with good amenities and everything, so still worth considering, but it’s further away from Bywart Market where most restaurants are, but this side is quieter. If you want to visit the Parliament and prefer "residential and quiet" environment, west side of Parliament is a better choice including this hotel. There is a Hilton and a Marriott across the street and a block away. If you prefer convenience with more foods, night life, and entertainment, then east side of Parliament near Bywart Market is a better choice. Tall beds, can be too tall if you are short or prefer standard height. There is an underground parking, and you need to pay extra. The way they calculate parking can be confusing, I wish it's more straightforward. Lobby is clean. In summary: service is mixed depends on who you get. cleanliness is unsatisfactory. location is subjective, based on your preference. Had the service attitude be more positive, and room clean, it would have earned a higher rating.…
