One of the most individual, unique bed and breakfasts I have ever stayed in, The Auberge King Edward offered a wonderful stay to compliment the delightful city of Ottawa. A short taxi ride from the station, the owner Richard and Sonny the dog greeted us enthusiastically and invited us into the kitchen of this impressive yet homely Auberge and proceeded... more

My husband and I needed a place to stay in Ottawa for two nights while I attended a baby shower. After reading some reviews and browsing websites, I called Richard to book the Burgundy Room at the Auberge King Edward B&B. Richard was friendly and efficient, and immediately followed up our conversation with an email confirmation with driving instructions. Upon... more

This was an interesting Victorian house, carefully restored to its former glories by Richard, the owner. We were made to feel very welcome and at home, not least by Sonny, a gorgeous goldenddoodle. Richard was great at sitting down and giving people ideas about how to spend their day, depending on how long they were spending in Ottawa. Our room... more

What a beautiful house so close to downdown. Rideau canal is only 5 minutes walk. And what a treat: burning woodfire welcoming us, and so is Sunny, the goldendoodle. A well trained dog by Richard, the charming host, who is overloading us with tips on what to see in Ottawa. Spacious, classy rooms. Very savoury breakfast too. And Kiwi, the... more

A prior review summed up our experience to the letter: * Richard is a great host who welcomes you and makes you feel like his home is your own. (He is also seemlessly fluent in English and French. So much so that a couple from France noted that his B&B was recommended in French travel guides.) * He's very attentive... more

Richard is a wonderful host who welcomes you into his heritage home and makes you feel like it's your own. He's very attentive to all of his guests' needs and is always ready to lend a helping hand. He is fully informed of the city's attractions and can help you organize your stay in no time at all. Especially good... more

We agree! We had 3 nights at the King Edward. Good location - easy walking access to everything and just off a major bus route. Terrific room and balcony. Good breakfasts with a wide variety of cereal, fruit and a cooked dish. Helpful advice, maps and directions. Interesting and informative discussions. Little extras, like some washing, provided happily, promptly at... more

We stayed one night in the Tower room. The house is a beautiful old Victorian home in downtown Ottawa. The room was spacious with a nice balcony. The breakfast was a very filling, with a good mix of hot and cold options. The owner was very helpful and offered good trips for tourists who don't know Ottawa well. We would... more
