I stayed many times at the Gasthaus, and I really can't imagine staying at another hotel in Ottawa ! Less than 5 minutes walking distance from the Canal, University of Ottawa, and most of all, the Market, Ottawa's happening food & fun district. My sister and I wanted to get away for a quick 'girls weekend trip' and we had a great time staying at the Gasthaus Switzerland Inn. Sabina and her family were very hospitable and accomodating. The location of the inn was in walking distance to various amenities and attractions like the parliament buildings, rideau mall and the market. more

We stayed in one of the "honeymoon suites", witha King bed. Our expererience was incredible, Sabina(?)(the owner) was simply "the best". A wonderful home away from home. This was my second stay at the Gasthaus and it does not disappoint. Friendly and helpful hosts and a wonderful breakfast to help start your day in Ottawa. Under no circumstance should anyone stay here. They claim to be a bed and breakfast, or possibly an inn, but they barely qualify as a hostel. I haven't stayed in a place this grimey since I backpacked through Peru when I was 22. They were unquestionably overpriced. Stayed for five nights while on holiday in August and found it was a great choice. It is close (2 to 3 blocks) to either the Byward market or the Rideau shopping centre and the transit hubs.
