The hotel is in a very pretty setting a little out of town. Ask for a room in the back with a view. There are a few well worn edges, but the pool and whirlpool make up for that. We booked this hotel based on the ratings here, and the supposed proximity to Fort William, actually changing our booking from the Comfort Inn because of that. We were driving in from Winnipeg (about 8 hours), so were arriving at dusk. Signage from the highway was pretty much non-existant...thank goodness we had a GPS. It was WAY out of town.... more

We spent two nights at the Nor'wester and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. The staff were very friendly, the food was great especially the omelette for two for breakfast. The room was quiet and comfortable. The hotel is slightly out of the city but the scenery and quiet more than compensates. We would recommend this Best Western to anyone. more

We choose the Best Western after reading Trip Advisor comments. The other option was the Valhalla but it was too close from the Airport. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes drive from Thunderbay but it was not a problem. There is not traffic jam in ThunderBay. Checked into hotel after driving for eight hours, Rooms were messed up but the staff took care of that and got us side by side rooms. The rooms were satisfactory, we were on the second floor, the carpets were tired and the hotel was showing it's age but parts were being renovated. Beds were comfortable.
