The hotel wasn't in the luxurious part of the city, but located about a 10/15 minute walk away from the hustle and bustle. The neighbourhood looked run down, but to say it looked crime ridden etc is unfair and toffee-nosed. Had my details on arrival and I paid there and then. I thought the hotel corridors and lift had a... more

This hotel is in a slightly shady neighborhood off of Queen Street. A pretty good value for the money but very tired rooms and you do need to bring your own alarm clock. There is a kitchenette that you can do microwaving and making tea/coffee in. Queen street is within walking distance and there are several convenient shops selling simple... more

We pre-paid for this hotel on Expedia. It was the only budget option we could find that was cheap and was anywhere remotely near the centre of Toronto and had acceptable reviews on Tripadvisor. We found out that it falls somewhere between the categories of upmarket hostel and budget hotel. We arrived early but checked in without problem. The rooms... more

For the price, you can't beat it. And the fact that its not in a very touristy area makes it more interesting. I dont know why everyone is complaining about the area, its like any downtown, its fine to walk around during the day time, probably ok at night time - as long as you don't start chanting bible quotes... more

OK, if you are looking for five-star luxury, steer clear of this place. If you are looking for an inexpensive option in a vibrant neighbourhood, consider the Alexandra. All I can say is that those who have complained about the neighbourhood have misread the signs. This hotel is just off Queen Street West. Our taxi driver knew exactly where Ryerson... more

It's about 100 ft up a side road from Queen Street West which is where the action is in Tee Town - tonnes of live music (Rivoli, Jeff Healey's place etc), book shops, guitar shops, 24 hour food etc. Completely safe area, some reviewers made it sound like Lagos but it's virtually crime free yet without the soul squeezed out... more

What more could you want? For a rate way less than most downtown Toronto hotels you get 2 beds, a kitchenette, TV, air conditioning, a decent sized bathroom, and everything you could want in a hotel room. Not too fancy, but everything you'd need. A little hard to find, especially if you're from out of town, but well worth it.... more

$115.00 a night & bad attitude. The white guy and the Cantonese both looked down upon their neighbors and people lodging there. more

I stayed in the Alexandra while in town for a conference and could not afford to stay in the conference hotel. I had a wonderful experience. My room was clean and very comfortable. Queen St., just a few minutes' walk away, has terrific public transportation to downtown. The neighborhood made me nervous at first but after venturing out I realized... more

I was very disappointed with this hotel. I chose this hotel because the price seemed pretty reasonable. It is in a terrible location, it took me 3 hours just to find the hotel, and the locals that I asked for assistance never heard of this hotel or ryerson st. This should have been a sign for me :( When I... more
