Please read before booking to stay here, I found the area in which the hotel is base did leave a lot to be desired, I did not see any hookers, but I did see a lot of drug addicts, and that was during the day, I checked in to the hotel, and they put me in a room that looked... more

I discovered this site only after finding the Downtowner on a web search and contacting them directly. After reading Trip/Advisor's negative reviews I should have canceled my two-night reservation and forfeited my 5% reservation fee. Instead I called the manager who assured me the rooms were clean and the neighborhood safe. Because I was still doubtful when I arrived at... more

When you're just a poor student or just desperate for a place to crash, the Downtowner Inn would be the right place. As we arrived the sheets were laying on the beds and they were folded, so we had to make up our own beds. I did see some red bugs and I do think there were some fleas, because... more

When I read the reviews before my stay at the Downtowner Inn I wasn't expecting much. But when it wasn't as depressive as most of the writers before me. We stayed here for 2 nights and didn't see any hookers or drugsdealers! I was here with 2 friends (all women) and I have never felt unsafe in the neighbourhood of... more

This place is awful. Do not stay here. First of all, Travelocity cited the hotel as having "free parking" which is nice in a city like Toronto. Yeah, right. The free parking was two spaces in this little fenced in alley behind the place. The indian guy at the desk asked what kind of car I had...because the alley and... more

I'm used to staying at places with no frills and I wasn't expecting much, but this place was terrible. We arrived at about 4pm and were told the room wasn't ready yet (it would be at least another 30 mins), so we left to do other things. We returned at about midnight and were told "sorry your room is no... more

We have reserved and called three times to confirm our stay. They took every time our Credit card numbers and always this Gashan (Indian Gent.) from reservations answer and they refused to give a confirmation number. At the end the layers denied they received any call from us. Even no reservation. Worst possible experience and worst possible service, worst every... more

If you have a family - stay away - I arrived with my daughter, and as we pulled up - there was garbage everywhere on the grounds. I went inside and the desk clerk was arguing with a hooker about her room rental. I asked to park my car at the parking and he told me the parking was at... more

Was a little disturbed by some of the reviews before staying here but after being here for a week I have no complaints. Yes its a basic hotel/hostel with crappy paintwork through out. But at the price who cares? I booked a room with ensuite and thats what I got... it was clean and tidy, the water was hot and... more

Room was infested with fleas. Manager was uncooperative and was under the influence of drugs, because of the noticeable smell from the office. It was an awful place. Never stay there again!!!! more
