OK here it is, big and presumably decent urban hotel in downtown Montreal, but rooms - on 10th floor anyway - are cramped, outdated, and feature the following : a 1975 26" Zenith big box TV with fuzzy screen on all channels (how can any hotel of that class not have flat screens and decent signal?); absence of any glass... Checked out today with family- hotel was clean enough, but bathtub had tile that desperately needed new grout. No bedbugs(thank goodness) but room was very hot and thermostat didn't seem to work. Air in room was extremely dry and beds were stiff and uncomfortable. Overall, it just seemed like this hotel was past its prime and truly needed renovations. Neighborhood... More

We stayed for two nights in late January 2012. The staff was efficient and willing to speak English to help our dreadful French; the room was clean and warm although we had trouble regulating the room temperature. The hotel is attached to an indoor shopping plaza with a food court for immediate kid-friendly dining. The pool is not large but... More

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of January 12.  We called in without a reservation and we got a really good room on the 25th floor with a beautiful view of Ste-Catherine.  The clerk was very helpful and friendly yet professional.  The room was a superior, nicely refurbished with nice furniture. The floor was very quiet and we... More

Checked into the Gouverneur for the weekend and was amazed. Great location, nearby amenities and great upgrade from what was initially offered. Quiet and peaceful rooms and knowledgeable staff at the front desk. Would stay here again if the price is right. Transit is less then 5 minutes away and there's an IGA (grocery store) and pharmacy in the business/mall... More

Nice location, convenient access to metro and shopping but was not very impressed with the room or the hotel in general. Limited amenities. Old furniture. Relatively small rooms. And really no view to speak of. I got the room through an Expedia blind booking for a trip in October where city hotels where booked solid for apparently a major medical... More

Once a first class stay, this property is not aging well. Old furnishings and worn carpets, tvs with the worst possible reception, completely inadequate water pressure, a pool that was not open during my stay with no advance notice and a front desk that seemed annoyed I showed up made this a good choice only because I got a discount... I was quite pleased with my stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and had lots of helpful tips for getting around the city. Although not ultra modern, the room was very clean and comfortable. A problem with my television reception was dealt with promptly by hotel repare staff. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet, but there are... More
