We had a wonderful stay at the Chateau. My husband and I were looking for a quick weekend getaway that offered a total change of scenery. We decided on Quebec City for its culture, museums, walkability, and because we had never been there before. I reluctantly upgraded to a concierge level room, known in Fairmont parlance as a Gold Floor.... more

My husband and I got a great deal on hotels.com to stay here, and we are so glad we did. The hotel itself is beautiful, and it is in the heart of the old city. The scenery was spectacular, and the staff was extremely helpful. The only downside is all of the extra fees for things that are included at... more

This is a hotel with character. It is not a glamorous new hotel. It is an old, charming hotel which feels like it could have ghosts roaming it's halls. It's a beautiful hotel from it's grand exterior to it's quaint interior. We went to celebrate our engagement and it was just perfect. The restaurant was amazing. We have been to... more

On the positive side, the Frontenac staff were friendly even though I speak no French. The view from the hotel is very good and hotel is very historic. Our first night at the hotel we stayed in room 3208. That room faced a wall and the kitchen window. I asked for a different room and the hotel offered a free... more

I don't regret staying at the Chateau Frontenac as it is *the* grand hotel in Quebec City. But once was enough. My husband and I booked five nights at this hotel in May but checked out after two in favour of the far superior Auberge Saint-Antoine in the lower town. Our room was adequate and relatively clean, and the bed... more

Some of the rooms and suites in the Chateau have gorgeous views of the St. Lawrence River; we did not have one of those. We essentially had a room with no view, no make-up mirror ( so, ladies, do not wear contact lenses and have a hard time seeing with them in) and it had no safe, so I had... more

stayed here for one night paying nearly $400 Canadian as a once in a lifetime treat. The hotel is very much THE tourist attraction in Quebec and was swarming with school kids and tourists. Kids also running around the hallways and no sign of security or staff to stop them. You can go on a tour of the hotel and... more

After a several-hour trip by car to the Chateau Frontenac, we were greeted warmly and check-in was effortless. Our room had an "inner courtyard view" but overlooked the defining roof of the Chateau, and the St. Lawrence could be seen in the distance. Staff was very helpful in setting us up with walking tours that we were outstanding. Room was... more

If you are going to visit Quebec City, the Chateau Frontenac is clearly the best place to stay if you can afford it. It's the city's largest and most prominent landmark, in the heart of the old city, and if you're not staying here, you'll end up looking at it enviously throughout your entire stay. The hotel is quite historic... more

It takes a great deal of effort to run a four- or five-star hotel. Just finding the right kind of staff can be a nightmare. Our stay at the Château Frontenac was marked by unfailing kindness on the part of the many staff we dealt with over the weekend. Although our room was small by North-American standards, it had exactly... more
