I looked over the internet and found this hotel to be not only available but relatively cheaper than others and thats why I booked it. Now I know why. This hotel is old and the only thing majestic is their stair case decor. It is nothing like the fancy pictures that are posted on their website. To me, it was... more

The Hotel Senator is a cute hotel smack dab in the old downtown, with old buildings all around and a street where no cars are allowed. The service was OK, too. Just one problem: the singles room was very small, just slightly bigger than a storage closet. It's a miracle they managed to put a bathroom in there. However, I... more

I have stayed at the Senator a number of times and yes its an older hotel. If you are looking for a sanitized generic hotel, well then go to one. If you are looking at a good rate, good location and friendly staff, then stay here. Parking is limited, but free. Yes, the pub can be noisy and I one... more

This hotel is in a good central location, room was average but quite dark. Room was fairly clean but I needed to clean the bathtub before use and carpet was stained. Overall, extremely poor service from the front desk staff. If a somewhat pleasant experience is what you're looking for, don't stay here. Daytime front desk staff needs a serious... more

I've stayed here a few times in both the 'bare bones' room and the jacuzzi suite. First off; it's cheap. VERY cheap for right down town with free parking (but he'll jack up the price if there's a conference in town). Secondly I found the staff fantastic, but this may change with whoever you deal with (like with most hotels).... more

An amazingly quality hotel with a very economical cost. Having the bar/grill connected to the bottom of the hotel is such a huge bonus. Rooms were very clean and well furnished. Rooms contain cable TV and hi-speed wifi internet (free) - you just have to ask for the network password at the front desk. Parking is a bit of a... more

I read the reviews on this site and others before I booked at the Senator. As downtown hotel space was limited this weekend, I decided to risk it. Immediatly upon arrival we were told our room rate would be reduced because there were "no baseboards and one wall of a new closet wasn't painted." The hotel could have waited to... more

Don't let the website fool you! The Senator is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Staff members are out to lunch. The hotel is located directly above Winston's pub, so be prepared to put up with a lot of noise from the drunk crowds that hang out outside the hotel. Walls are paper thin. Carpets are dirty. Hotel claims... more

Management response from
senatorsaskatoon, General Manager

We checked into this response and found it was from a customer that didn't have a guarenteed reservation during a full period in the city. We got them in but in a dated room but priced well as they are very clean and quiet for the price of 64.00 contrary to the review. Of course they werent happy and impossible...

I had read some mixed reviews about the Hotel Senator but with the city all booked due to a Teacher's Convention we were lucky to get a room. When we first walked in the lobby we didn't have a good feeling as there seemed to be a couple of less than desirable folks hanging about. Then as we checked in... more

This hotel has a great lobby, and terrible, old rooms. The staff is indifferent, walls paper thin, carpets dirty (I left my socks on). This is not a "boutique" hotel. Twice they have screwed up my reservation and blamed Expedia. This is an old run down hotel masquerading as a renovated, modern establishment. Go any where else. more
