Only had 2 nights here but would definitely recommend. The service is excellent so was the food. Decent sized rooms with very comfortable beds. Only downside is that there isn't a very good phone signal but that's no detriment to the hotel as they have a signal booster

On a trip to Seascale and waiting for the tide to go out, we had our "ceremonial" trip to Bailey's Ice Cream Parlour. Situated underneath the hotel , with fantastic views over the Irish Sea, easily recognised from the outside by a life size "cow" next to the entrance. But this is not "just" an ice-cream parlour! After a visit... More

On arrival at the Bailey Ground the hotel looks very dated, as does the surrounding area, however this is soon forgotten when you meet the staff who are very friendly and helpful. The meals at the hotel are straight forward wholesome food and plenty of it, no chance of going hungry with the portions. If there is a let down... More

We chose to stay at the Bailey Ground as it is a short drive from Scafell Pike and the Wasdale Valley for our walk the next day! The room was very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. We had an evening meal there and the steak was out of this world including the home made ice cream. The owner Richard was... More

Stayed at The Bailey Ground for a week for work purposes. Breakfast and meals were to a high standard. The staff were always more than helpful. Although people have said the mobile phone reception isn't great their is a booster for some networks within the hotel. I'm with Vodafone and I didn't experience any issues. Rooms are comfortable, clean and... More

Good rooms, everything you need and if you ever jave a problem just ask, I've stayed at this hotel for around five weeks over the last few months. Rooms are basic but clean, the mobile reception is not good in the village so be warned however the owner can get certain networks over the hotels wireless so just ask! The... More

My wife and I stayed for one night when attending a wedding in a neighbouring village. The rooms are comfortable with everything you need and breakfast was brilliant. Very big portions and eggs fresh from the hens out the back which was a nice touch. The owners also run the coffee shop next door which sells ice-cream to die for.... More

I stayed at this hotel for 6 days last week with a group of 6 people whilst attending the Sellafield site on business. I was not looking forward to this trip but the welcome of the staff and ambience of the hotel made the trip a good one. The rooms we stayed in were spacious with ensuite bathrooms. What really... My wife and I stayed one night on visit to West Cumbria and had a memorable stay. My wife wanted a seaview and boy, that is what we got. Fantastic view from our spacious bedroom. I dealt with Sarah the boss lady on the phone and she ensured we got just what we wanted. The staff were really lovely, very... More
