This is an old, dilapidated motel and if this is a 3 star motel, then Motel 6 must be 5 stars and for what we paid, we could have had a 5 star! Ok, it was a last minute booking on Hotwire, paid at least 3 times more than it was worth for Fourth of July. So that might color... more

Extreme disappointment is the only adjective I can use to describe my experience at Avalon Lodge.I choose the place based on a 3 star rating on a travel web site and some positive reviews. There must be one **really** nice room and it was not the one I slept in. The back window in the bathroom could not be locked,... more

I had a reservation that I cancelled and the hotel refused to honor their refund policy and refund my money, minus their cancellation fee. I had a reservation for July 2009. On April 17th, I cancelled my rervation. The hotel's cancellation policy is you are refunded the one night's stay, minus $20.00 Per this policy, they owe me $79.00, which... more

This older Lodge is having a new start with a new owner/manager. Upon arrival we found the management team in the main office were friendly and very out going. Not only taking time to tell us about the area but even the temps in clean pool and out side hot tub area. We found the newly decorated room to be... more

Avalon Lodge is a great place to stay for those who don't need the amenities and luxury of a Hyatt or Marriott. This is our third visit to this facility, and it has been satisfactory every time. We found the management friendly (although absent in the evenings), and room comfortable, the location very convenient to shops and dining - and... more

This motel was okay in many respects: close to the lake and casinos, recently repainted inside, a few plants (Still in plastic pots) stuck in plant hangers, friendly though ineffective on-site managers. But the housekeeping is going to do this hotel in. It was laughably poor. There was Lipstick on coffee cups from previous occupants, a half-used creamer package, no... more

I have stayed at many of the hotels in Tahoe and this was by far the worst hotel, sevice, and experience I have ever had. The manager was rude and inconsiderate. Compared to this place, the rest of the hotels in Tahoe get 5 stars. The service and experience were bad enough, but to top it off, the rooms were... more

On the plus side, this is reasonably priced accommodation, very close to the gondola, Heavenly Village, the stateline (therefore casinos) and the general amenities you need for a ski trip (equipment stores, places to get food etc). On the downside, the motel was dated. It was clean enough, although not spotless, but my main gripe was how thin the walls... more

My wife and I have both been traveling for years. We have stayed at expensive and innexpensive places. In all of out travels we have never come across a place as disgusting as this. Was it the half eaten granola bar that we found blending in on top of the coffee table when we checked in, was it the dirty... more
