After having been to Mercues at least ten times I have only good things to say. Delightful service, fabulous food, breathtaking scenery and charming staff. The pool is of epic proportions and a delight to swim in. The wine is drinkable by the caseload, an early morning walk around the woods to overlook Cahors and the Lot through the mist... More

This castle, beautifully restored is now home of Relais et Chateaux group, and boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant. The entrance is memorable, with the park, view over the valley and the towers. Rooms are modernly restored preserving as much as possible the medieval character. We had trouble finding the TV, which was hidden behind an impressive room mirror (state-of-the-art). The restaurant... More

We had been traveling in southwestern France for 2 weeks and were faced with arranging hotels for our last week. We happened upon Chateau Mercues in booking.com while searching for someplace near Cahors, and decided to treat ourselves to a chateau stay. It certainly met our goal. Our room in the older section facing east over the gardens and pool... More

Nested in the heart of Cahors wine region, and strategically situated on a hill above the Lot River near the city of Mercues, this is an excellent example of a romantic medieval castle. It has most of the ingredients for a mystical, overnight, weekend or longer stay in a castle venue that oozes romance. However, the cuisine selection is very... More

We stayed at the Chateau de Mercues Sept 9. The castle is beautiful, we were given a wonderful room, nothing to fault this exceptional place. Unfortunately the 9th was a Sunday, so their Michelin-starred restaurant was closed. We were sent to a restaurant about fifteen minutes away where we had one of the most wonderful dinners we have ever had.... More

Château de Mercues is one of the oldest Relais&Château of France, basically one of the founding member. No wonder your grand father was used to this place. It has changed a bit thought since then ! Very glad to have you back, hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay. Hervé Philippon Maître de Maison More

Chateau de Mercues has a long standing tradition in hospitallity and great cuisine. We arrived late on a September night and staff was waiting and prepared. Yes we were fortunate to be upgraded to the towersuite but reception was warm and considerate. I had been advised that the kitchen was closed but had requested a room snack, nothing can describe... As a seasoned Relais et Chateaux visitor I felt underwhelmed by this hotel which was physically beautiful but let down by inadequate concierge services coupled with a general feeling that our stay was not important to them.

This is not the main restaurant, it is the lun ch restaurant. It is open to the public. Outdoor seating possible and recommended, superb view of the surroundings. Choice between 3 starters, 3 entrees and 3 deserts in a lunch menu priced at € 29. Very fine food, excellent service, limited wine list (& surprise knowing that the owner is... More

Thank your for your comment, “Le 13 heures” is indeed one of the best sought after meals in the area. Glad to hear you liked it. As for the winelist, it is indeed more aimed at presenting the wines of the vigouroux family and their friends which still represents a fairly wide range of wine.
