Only lodge in the area, just a few steps away from the pristine indian ocean beach, where you can walk for hours with your bare feet in the sand without meeting anybody. Spacious rooms, oversized double beds, tasteful meals and super-friendly staff make you wish to stay forever. A Scuba Diving operator is on the premises and comes highly recommended.... more

Our bugalow was amazing, right down to the rainforest shower. After early starts in the game parks it was great to relax and sleep in. I spent time at the spa with Penny while my fiancee` went scuba diving (and he was very impressed with what he saw). more

This place is a secluded gem. You have to survive a 45 minute bumby ride with a 4x4 to get there... but it is more than worth it! Already passing through the little town of Mabibi and seeing the dunes by the ocean takes your breath away. The first view of the beach going down the steep hill to the... more

While we were unlucky with the weather, we had a great time here. The rooms are large, self-contained and comfortable, with a small deck. The beach is perfect and totally private, with miles to walk. Great inshore snorkeling. The spa was a popular choice on the grey days (and as such was heavily booked). The sundowner trips to nearby Lake... more

We spent 3 nights here as part of our honeymoon before moving on to sister lodge Kosi Forest. The accommodation in the Afro-minimalist cement, wood and thatch units was great – air-conditioning, mosquito nets, huge bathtub (big enough for 2), twin basins, an indoor/outdoor shower and the massive bed with top quality linen made our stay very comfortable. The food... more

What's good: -it really is in the middle of nowhere and very wild and beautiful -staff were excellent -friendly, helpful etc. Check that Kevin and Bev are still running it before booking -room was great and well equipped -food was first class (NB chef is leaving in 6 months and cooking in this remote location where the food arrives once... more

This is the perfect place to unwind and relax. A vast beach without a building in sight. Lovely accommodation, good food, friendly staff and plenty of activities to do. The beach is absolutely fantastic, the sea surprisingly warm but with quite a strong current. From the beach it is almost impossible to see the Lodge which has been built very... more

A jewel on the beach, with a mere 20 guest (they have around 12 luxury bungalows hidden amongst the dune vegetation) for some 30 km of white sand beach and noone else there. As soon as you start the sand road off the main tar road, just enjoy relax, nature and seaside. The place is beautiful, the staff is all... more

From the minute we parked out car in the Cashew nut farm we knew Thonga would be a great place to stay. Spotted our first whales off the beach as we were being shown round the facilities and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The food was superb, atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Highlight was seeing a giant leatherback turtle making... more

As you drive down the final steep hill the rounded end of the bay is glimpsed through the trees and you somehow feel that you've come to the right place. As the lodge is really in the middle of nowhere, the beach is beautiful, long and empty. Food during our stay was excellent, staff friendly and attentive and wines remarkably... more
