My husband and I eat out often. This is by far the best restaurant in in the area. The food is brilliant, fresh and home cooked. Service is always very good to. Some dishes are quite highly priced, over £20 for a fillet steak, but this is what you can expect these days....and you certainly get your money's worth here.... More

The rooms are very clean and spacious and have recommened to other work collegues including guests from Italy. I have to use Pub and Hotels... More

Lovely quiet location, typical English inn. The room was clean and cosy And the bed very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. We both had the fish and chips which was well cooked and tasty. The prices of the food all looked reasonable. Over all a positive experience and good value. We will return.

Booked in for dinner 2 weeks ago on Saturday night. Pub was packed, great atmosphere. All 8 of us had 3 courses, and the food was out of this world, truly amazing!! Well priced too. I opted for the fillet steak sauteed panchetta, girole mushrooms, dauphinoise potatoes and Camembert sauce...it was Devine! Would highly recommend !

My wife and I stayed ere for two nights recently and had a good welcome from all the staff. We stayed in a Superior room which was immaculately clean, spacious and had a 6ft wide bed and a sofa. There were however a few down points:- the floorboards of the room above creaked annoyingly, the TV was so small that... More

We have friends in the area and needed a place to stay for the night. This was for a family room and it was a lovely cosy room, which was just right for us. Our friends came over to us in the evening and we had a meal for 9 people in the pub. The service, food and drinks were... More

First time visit on a Friday night, welcoming lights on 2 conifers lit up the entrance to the car park. First impressions was the oldie worldie feel to the pub, landlady was very friendly and the pub itself spotlessly clean. Lovely smell of maderia sauce drifting through the pub. Food was excellent, service great. Highly recommend this pub. Nice loos... More

My wife and I met a friend for lunch today and The Hunters Moon was about half way for travelling so we decided to give it a try. Very friendly and efficient staff a good choice of drinks and a sensible length menu supplemented by a specials board [ I am always very wary of huge menus as there is... More

Situated in the tiny village of Middlemarsh (Marshwood in Hardy's novels) the Hunters Moon sits on the side of the A 352, approximately 12 miles from Dorchester (Casterbridge) and 6.5 miles from Shaftesbury. Within a half hours drive are many of the villages renamed by Hardy in his Dorset novels, with the village of Cerne Abbas and its Giant about... More

We stayed two nights here and we booked this pub because of the good reviews on here and also because of its close proximity to Monkey World which was our main reason for staying in the part of Dorset. The room (Superior room no 8) was a good size, with a large comfortable bed, and a decent size shower room,... More
