Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a family of three, including our energetic 3-year-old, our stay at this hotel was fantastic. The clean and comfortable room, friendly reception, and surprisingly comfortable sofa bed all contributed to a positive experience. The room's brightness and nice view were appreciated, and the added bonus of a quiet atmosphere made it an ideal choice for our family. Highly recommend for families looking for a relaxing stay!

Hotel's Favourite
If you live in the states or have stayed in a Quality Inn in the US, you are aware that they are far from quality. This hotel however exceeded expectations. I spent the day diving the Poor Knights. The dive shop had recommended I stay here, being convenient is an understatement. I booked through booking.com, I’m not sure if other methods offer a cheaper rate - I have noticed with other accommodations that booking.com adds a charge that may not exist if booking direct. Easy to find, good signage and had open spaces in the parking lot upon arrival. The staff at the front desk both checking in and checking out were wonderful. Very personable and friendly. My room was perfect. Incredibly spacious. Gorgeous view of the marina. The sunset and sunrise were picturesque. I was awed when I opened the door and it confirmed I made the right choice about my stay. The bathroom is also spacious, good shower pressure and hot water. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a rock. Brekky starts downstairs at 7 am. It is not included in the nightly rate but was tastey. I had to be at the dive shop at 8, I arrived downstairs around 720 and still had enough time to eat the oats, pastry and drink a coffee. I would stay again and recommend for your stay.

Just arrived. No bath mat to stop slipping in the bath. I had to use a towel which are not of good quality anyway. Shower had minimal water pressure and not high enough on the wall. At least the water was warm as it’s a tad cold today. No usb ports in the room. As I was lying in bed, I wondered why the wind was whistling through the verandah doors! Discovered that the sliding door was not even shut! Poor security. Not the nicest motel I’ve been to….just ok.

A good place to stay if you are diving or just touring around the North Island. The rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. Parking is free and you have good access to the marina. There is a restaurant on the ground floor that serves, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Needed accommodation at short notice and this was in the ideal location. Have been there before but was pleasantly suprised with the renovations, very good, especially the excellent tv! The weather wasn't the best but still an amazing view out over the Marina.

The location is great. Wehad a room looking over the marina. It was spacious and seemed to have been recently refurbished. Everything was very clean and the staff were all very obliging and hospitable. I would have rated a five but was disappointed the restaurant was closed after 3pm. This meant we could not pop down to the bar for a drink or a coffee. (actually I tried to get acoffee at 2.50 before they closed but they had already shut up shop). I know there is a bar and restaurant about5 mins walk away but it is not at all the same as popping downstairs as you expect to do in a hotel. Covid i know but most hospitality places are now getting back to normal.

The warmth and friendly service from the staff at Oceans is memorable. Besides offering clean, spacious and very comfortable rooms, the people who work there go above and beyond to ensure their guests are well cared for. I stayed here several years ago and recall the same wonderful experience. This hotel is not to be missed because Tutukaka itself is gem of a place, and Oceans is the icing on the cake.

Our room was really clean and comfortable, loved the outlook over the marina. The only downside was due to Covid restrictions the restaurant was take away only and there wasn't anywhere really to sit and eat. We used the pool after diving and it said it was heated but it was pretty cold! Other than that the room and service was really good.
