Thank you to Ian and his team who made our weekend 2 date break for 8 so enjoyable. While the location of the hotel is somewhat remote what more can one ask but peace and quiet, the sound of the woodpecker, pheasant etc was a pleasant respite from traffic noise. The rooms are generous in size as well as comfortable... More

We are regular visits to the island and our normal hotels were full. We booked this online and were very pleased with what we found. The hotel is isolated in a quiet country setting. We were a party of four who, before we got to the door, were greeted by the manager who was expecting us. We were made very... More

I / we stopped from 27th Nov 2011 to 1st Nov 2011 working in the day and for a break at night then we were met by a friend on the Thursday . The hotel is well away from the main town and with out sat nav you need to know where you are going. The hotel is great value... More

We came in December, and for much of our stay we were the only guests. Yet, Ian was always charming and polite, although it can hardly have been worth his while to open the hotel just for us. The location - well, you'll love it or hate it. We loved being up on the downs, with wonderful walking and views... More

The Hermitage is a fantastic building in a lovely remote, scenic location with its own gardens. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the bedroom was very comfortable (very large room, four poster bed, large tv/dvd player, sofa). The dining room and lounge are very impressive indeed with authentic furniture and decor. The breakfasts are delicious, with plenty of... More

We booked this on the strength of the reviews here and we were not too disappointed. The food is to die for and the friendliness of the staff was as good as everyone has written. The place has a lovely ambience about it, from the lovely ground to the study area and the lounge with a very good and well... More

and we were not disappointed - lovely room, a spa bath after a long day walking was the icing on the cake. Breakfast was, as usual, delicious. We stayed 3 nights and despite only being booked in for 1 evening meal we decided to eat there every night, the food was amazing, they have a great chef, like a previous... More

We stayed on a 3 nights for 2 offer which was good value. We couldn't find good quality acomodation in the Isle of Wight at reasonable price and away from the seaside towns until we hit on the Hermitage. Finding it on the ground the first time was something of a challenge as it seems not to exist on Sat... More

We have recently returned from our first visit to the IOW and what a wonderful place we chose to stay. The Hermitage Country House Hotel is haven of peace and tranquility. Ian and his staff could not be more welcoming and so helpful in a quietly very professional low profile manner. We stayed in the Michael Hoy Suite and it... More

We had booked one night half-board and one B & B. However the food the first evening was so good (and it is miles from anywhere!) we decided to eat in the second. Bit surprised that there wasn't the odd change to the menu but still good. Breakfast also very good. Staff superb, rooms excellent. As the title of this... More
