We’d been to brinkburn priory earlier in the day and forgot our packed lunch so we ended up stumbling across here and so glad we did

Loads of seating both inside and out we had the 2 courses for £10 each and all courses including the children’s were of ample size and delicious

Their changes for Covid restrictions were one of the best we’ve been too. Proper one way system including the toilets and plenty hand sanitiser around. As soon as customers were leaving their tables were cleaned and the staff kept a friendly distance

Really enjoyed our lunch and to top it off for our son was the unbelievable outdoor play area. Very well thought out and lots to play on

My husband and I have just returned from a most enjoyable 3 night stay together with our little border terrier Daisymay. Thank goodness I saw this hotel on Groupon , making it exceptional value for money also, otherwise I would never have discovered it. Everything about this hotel/ pub was outstanding . Fresh flowers throughout , spotlessly clean bedrooms with lovely big towels , power shower , toiletries , tea and coffee and homemade shortbread. The food menu was extensive with food on offer throughout the day with a well balanced wine list . The quality and presentation of the food was well above average for this type of establishment but beware the portions are huge !! Breakfast was also very enjoyable and the coffee is some of the best I have had(. Daisymay enjoyed her morning takeaway of two sausages.! )However, the biggest plus was Julie, the owner , and her outstanding team whose service and friendliness were second to none. . We particularly enjoyed participating in the Thursday night pub quiz even if we were almost at the bottom of the pile. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. The key is on its way back to you !

The very finest seafood platter in peaceful surroundings cared for by attentive staff.

We wanted to celebrate and had seen an Anglers Arms facebook article with photograph of seafood platter. Although forty miles away, we rang around 11.am at short notice and were greeted by a staff member with what we call ‘the telephone smile’ a voice which immediately conveys that you are going to be helped and a booking was made for noon.

We were shown to a large table under the patio awning shaded from the glorious sunshine. The equally warm and welcoming member of staff handed us menus and a track and trace certificate to complete, drinks order were swiftly taken and soon we ordered our sharing seafood platter.

Superlatives abound over the standard of food at The Anglers Arms but it really was the best seafood platter we have shared in over 50 years of marriage and we have shared and created many. The selection was wonderfully balanced and creatively presented at what we feel was a very fair price, indeed I doubt that I could have prepared one for less buying the fresh ingredients at retail price.

Highly recommended, set the sat nav and go.

First May I thank the chef for an outstanding Christmas Dinner that we attended yesterday.

However I must say that both myself and Sharon were disappointed with seating arrangements that you felt suitable for your customers.

I planned a special day for us both and felt that the Anglers Arms was providing value for money. So I booked Christmas Dinner with yourselves.

On arrival we were greeted extremely well by your host. But then we were deflated when we were sat amongst the local population in the Bar Area.

I fully agree that your local customer's should be made welcome on Christmas Day. But it was extremely disappointing being sat in amongst them for our Christmas meal.

We had no privacy to enjoy our meal. Only the loud conversation of the subject of farming along with bad language for the majority of our time with you.

We even felt that at one point we were forgotten as it took some 45 minutes from finishing our starter to receiving our main course.

So from seating arrangements to poor service after paying a substantial amount of money we were disappointed with our stay. Disappointed to the fact that we felt we only had a normal Sunday Lunch Meal and not that of Christmas Celebrations.

You may ask why we didn't Express our feelings at the time. But to be honest we should never of been placed in a position of complaining by yourselves in this way.

It would be most effective if you review your seating arrangements when hosting such an event when increasing your prices to do so.

Over all good food but extremely disappointing arrangements and service.

Best regards

Had not been here for several years despite good memories of the place. Had heard many very good reports from last summer so decided to revisit for New Years Day lunch. Booking highly recommended (as were the recommendations from 2021). Our table was cleaned and ready when we arrived, very friendly welcome and a good selection of menu choices all sensibly priced. Service was friendly and prompt without being rushed. Our food arrived promptly, very happy with our menu choices which were piping hot (always a good sign). Will be retuning and not just leaving so long before the next time!

We stayed at the Angler's Arms as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Brinkburn Priory.
The wedding began before our check in time so I emailed the day before for advice on how this could be managed. The hosts were very prompt in their response and really helpful, allowing us to leave our bags and providing us with the room key before we went to the venue. When we arrived at the Angler's around midday the room was ready and we could occupy the room immediately. We even had time for a coffee.
Our room was clean, warm and very comfortable. Breakfast was served in a lovely spacious dining room. The choice was very good and was beautifully fresh. The full English was definitely an all day breakfast.
The Angler's Arms is situated in a lovely rural setting. We will definitely return here and use it as a base to explore more of Northumberland.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Angler’s Arms and considered their Sunday Sleepover deal very good value.

The accommodation was cosy, comfortable and clean and it was peaceful in the middle of the night. Bottles of water were provided in the room and the brownie was a lovely welcoming touch.

The only thing needing attention in was the kettle which needed descaling and could’ve done with replacing with a more modern cordless type.

The food was plentiful and the breakfast offering was particularly exceptional; it fairly set us up for the day, so much so that we only needed a handful of crisps for lunch!

All the staff we encountered were friendly and service was prompt.

Highly recommended for a welcome change of scenery in gorgeous Northumberland.

We stayed one night in this wonderfully situated unspoilt hotel north of Morpeth on our way south and we’re surprised and thrilled that it hadn’t really changed (apart from the loss of the railway carriage dining room) in over 40 years.
We were met with typical Northumberland friendliness and readiness to help.
The food was excellent and our pet friendly room looking out over the River Coquet was quiet, warm and very comfortable.
Our thanks go to all the staff who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our meal in the dog friendly bar. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 3 nights and although the food and staff were amazing it’s worth noting a couple of minor disappointments.
My partner was particularly keen to try their private fishing however it transpired that not only was it trout fishing and not coarse fishing, the river bank itself was virtually inaccessible it was so overgrown.
There was also absolutely no phone reception, although there was WiFi in the hotel itself - if you are expecting a phone call you won’t get it!
Whilst the food from the main menu and specials menu (although the specials were the same for 3 nights, maybe they change weekly?) were absolutely delicious, my only disappointment was the Sunday roast which was over cooked with a very hard dry Yorkshire pudding - however I didn’t have mine until the evening and they’d been serving them all day.
In the rooms the toiletries ran out and weren’t replaced and the tea and coffee offering was limited and basic, however I am absolutely sure that if we’d asked for more they would have happily provided it.
Also there was very little information about things to do locally which were maybe less well known or maybe in walking distance.
However, having said all that, it is a lovely place, the staff couldn’t be friendlier and the food was absolutely beautiful and delicious - and that included the breakfasts.
It’s very popular for food so definitely book.
We would definitely stay again.

We called in for Sunday lunch for after walking a chunk of St Oswalds way. The pub is in a peaceful setting in a sheltered spot. There's a one way system throughout, and excellent social distancing arrangements meant we could sit back and relax while we waited for our food. Meals were delicious and portions were very generous, though we somehow managed to squeeze in a dessert. Staff were lovely and friendly and we enjoyed ourselves so much we've already booked to come back.
