Stayed a night in April and would definitely stay again. Newly rooms are excellent, comfy bed,tv and nice bathroom The only compliant would be the horrid tea in the room. The evening menu is very good, a bit too much choice made it a difficult decision. We shared a two starters- the pot of prawns and chicken tikka - but... More

The Anchor Inn at Whittonstall is very well placed in quiet beautiful countryside for walkers and proximity to both Hexham and Newcastle. Car parking is right next to the Inn. The Inn itself is a bright and charming hostelry offering very good rooms an excellent breakfast all very well presented. Though we did not have any evening meals here I... More

We went to the Anchor In Whittonstall as a prize in a competition which was pre booked for us. We were unsure what to expect, but we were delighted with the quality, comfort and fittings in the room, and the excellent, outstanding food. The staff were very helpful and the owners Karen and Gavin where excellent hosts. We shall return,... More

We had an evening meal here when we were staying at the fabulous Highfield House. The meal was good, as was the service. The plkace was fairly empty when we were there so there was not a great atmosphere but no complaints.

Just stayed for the first time at the Anchor Inn on Sunday 6th Jan 2013 and an excellent choice. Staff were lovely and friendly, room was good and a very enjoyable evening meal. Really enjoyed the whole experience and will recommend this to anyone looking for a deserved break. Shame it was only one night.

On 3rd January 2013 I had the misfortune to select this establishment for my wife's bithday lunch. We arrived at 11:30 am, and after enquiring about the availability of lunch we were informed that service would commence at noon. We decided to wait and ordered drinks. At 12:00 no-one came to take our order, nor was there any indication from... More

used this pub a few times now for meals in the evening and have to say that the food is excellent, good choice on the menu and the prices do not break the bank, service is good, staff friendly, and bar area has been redecorated, well worth a visit.

I am a volunteer with a local Breast Cancer Support Group and we have just celebrated our Christmas meal at The Anchor. We have done so for the last 3 or so years and we go back because we can always be sure of excellent food and service. The tables are decorated for Christmas with party hats etc. and the... More

This is a super place to relax. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful rooms & great food. Could not have asked for more. Would definitely recommend friends. It's an ideal location for exploring Northumberland. The views from our room The Durham were brilliant. We were really sad to leave after our 3 night stay. What lovely friendly people. I would definitely return.... More
