Stayed at a nearby cottage and was very dissappointed with this pub. No friendly welcome and no food being served, a real shame as this is the only pub in the village. Also no signs of any accomodation being made available in the near future, which is perhaps a blessing. More

The Buck Inn reopened last night with bar only but food and rooms coming on stream in the next few days. Stopped for "Sunday Roast" during an afternoon driving around the magnificent dales, despite being June the two open fires were aflame in the bars but only about ten folks were lunching. We visited the pub during the middle of a Sunday afternoon in glorious weather. There were just two people sitting outside and inside there were just two couples sitting at opposite ends of the pub. I would agree with most of the recent comments. The pub is a bit run down and old fashioned, which wouldn't matter if the owners were more welcoming. Within 10 minutes of arrival the manager gave us a long lecture on the evils of TripAdvisor; according to him since he had fallen out with the villagers, they had written lies... More
