Booked 2 nights bed & breakfast through advert on trip advisor. We went 28th-29th November. The room was very 70's in style and not very spacious. The bedside tables could have done with a good clean! We were under the impression this was a bar/restaurant. It was closed the Monday/Tuesday. So on our arrival we headed into Harrogate, and ate... My husband and I have just spent two nights at the Half Moon. We travelled up from Brighton and were told that the restaurant wouldn't be open that or Monday evening, but if we could arrive before 2;30pm we could have dinner. Which we did. Husband had the steak pie and I had roast beef, the best I have ever... More

Having eaten at many places in Ripon and surrounding area I was beginning to think there are no decent places but I then found the Half Moon Inn, Sharow last Friday (7/10/11). We were welcomed by a smart, friendly member of the team and he looked after us well. The chef and owner spoke to us and was very accomodating... More

We paid £99 for 2 nights B&B, which has to be seen as very good value, so any criticisms below should be viewed in that context. Positives: quiet village, excellent & copious (perhaps too much so) breakfast, obliging owners, competitively priced and well cooked food, cosy dining room. Negatives (Room 1): tiny bathroom, small TV on top of unnecessarily large... More

I regularly check the reviews for the halfmoon inn because my husband and myself have been lots of times. It makes me very sad to see negative comments made. Mark and Jane are the most accommodating people we know and nothing is too much trouble. They were awarded 5 stars this year on account of its very high standard in... More

We were given room 3 which needs a little more attention as has happened with the other two rooms. Although listed as en-suite the toilet is across the landing. However, all is forgiven when you taste Mark's cooking in the Inn! Fresh ingredients beautifully cooked with imagination and an extremely reasonably priced wine list. A popular place with the local's... More

We were travelling to Ripon for one night and decided to treat ourselves to a nice B&B which had a good restaurant. We looked at several on the net and decided on the Half Moon Inn. Booked in and were really looking forward to a great meal as the other reviews said how good the food was. The night before... More

We were staying in Sharow with family members and visited the Half Moon for lunch with a friend. The home made steak pie was just the best we have ever had. It has a shortcrust top and bottom and is served with real homemade chips and delicious seasonal vegetables and even more tasty gravy. Only £10 for it all! It... More

The food was of an excellent standard and plentiful. Accommodation was of average standard, but the hosts were very welcoming and made us feel very welcome. More

Stayed here for one night on the way to Newcastle. Love to eat out a lot and want to say that this is truly the best meal we've had in a long long time. Prawns so large and fresh (my starter), hubby had a home made steak pie (for a main), dessert a home made sticky toffee pudding and honestly... More
