Dyane is a very welcoming hostess and made us feel at home. We were disappointed that the carpets were so dirty, which is why we gave the rooms and cleanliness a low rating. However, Dyane assured us that the carpets would be cleaned before we bring family from Australia to stay for a week from 4th July 2009. more

I have stayed at the Gateway Inn with a large team of field assistants during my visits to Exshaw and Canmore to work on a land reclamation research project. The cabins at the Gateway Inn, especially "The palace", has been a home for us after the long days of work. The affordable rates, the cabin with kitchen, the location close... more

On our way to Vancouver from Calgary, we spied the Gateway Inn in Harvie Heights. In the back of my mind there were Questions, ( if I had seen the older reviews, I would have stayed away!) But what a surprise to be welcomed so pleasantly to a clean back room, not too noisy, considering the highway & train tracks.... more

My friend and I stayed here twice on our trip to Canada. We had intended to stay in Banff but were shocked by the accomm prices, so we drove 10 minutes down the road to Harvie Heights - on your left just before you get into Canmore - and found The Gateway Inn. At first glance it does not appear... more

I have to admit. I was a little nervous about staying at the Gateway Inn because of all of the negative reviews, but it wasn't as bad as I was thinking it would be. We stayed in the motel part (we didn't look inside the cabins) for one night on the way through to Vancouver and chose the Gateway Inn... more

We had booked our 2 bedroom cabin online based on the websites discription of clean rustic cabins. When we arrived to check in we were asked to pay even before we saw the cabin.Once inside we immediatly saw why. The cabins had dirty stained carpet, old dirty looking furniture and smelled terrible. When we mentioned to the guy at the front... more

The Gateway Inn has received some poor reviews from travellers. As of October 1, 2008, this rustic and reasonably priced motel and cabins are under new and dynamic management! I have been hired by the owners of this motel to manage the Gateway Inn. I come with years of B and B and travel management experience. My claim to fame...

My family and I made a reservation in March/08 from the inn's website for July/08. When we arrived to the Motel/Cabins we didn't find what we had expected. The landscape was not kept, the cabins are very old and not very clean. The management wanted us to pay up-front without even seeing our room. We were told we would have... more

Save yourself a bad experience - Stay away from this place. We reserved over the phone and were told check in time was 1500hrs. We arrived in Canmore and tried to check into this place and found the office closed. We tried for over two hours to check in - until after 1700 hrs. No one ever did show up.... more

I'm sure the same woman is still there. DO NOT BOOK HERE. We had prepaid reservations for 1 night and were very leery of the place when we drove into the parking lot. No cars and a bit overgrown. The office was empty and we rang the bell twice before assistance came and she seemed annoyed that we were bothering... more

They booked for FOUR persons – two rooms; only three arrived. They were not very nice. There are no 4" mattresses here at The Gateway. As they wanted to cancel, I told them if we rented the rooms, the credit card would be refunded as we had held the reservation for over two month for them. One complained about loosing...

small motel on Highway 1, but very little traffic noise at night. Room, clean & comfortable, a bit small, bit dark because of trees outside. Small fridge and kettle which was very slow to boil. Only problem was ice-making machine outside door which was rather noisy. No food service in the area, but only 5 mins drive to entry to... more
