We booked this spot to celebrate our anniversary. We were very disappointed when we saw the rooms and realized we were paying over 300 dollars for a tiny bedroom with old carpet, a dingy bathroom and no privacy. We had seen the pictures of the cabins on their website under accomodation and assumed the rooms were modern with similar finishing.... More

Dear Lisa: How wonderful that you met your husband at Strathcona Park Lodge on a band trip several years ago. I was sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your accommodation. The Haig Brown penthouse room booked for two nights for your anniversary is approximately 525 square feet. While it doesn't offer the privacy that a waterfront cottage would,... More

This was our first visit to Canada and after spending 4 days in busy Vancouver, we were delighted to find this piece of unspoilt paradise! Even though not inexpensive, we thought it justified considering the distance that supplies need to 'travel' to the lodge which always affects the cost... So no complaints there! We had some transport challenges on the... More

went there for a wedding. the views were spectacular but the room was not clean. Cobwebs on the windows, dog feces on the deck and the fan in the bathroom couldn't be shut off. Hard to sit on the deck and listen to the wind in the trees and couldn't even hear the birds while the noisy fan droned on. Just... More

Our Events Manager appreciatied speaking with you yesterday regarding your valid concerns. We will look forward to hosting you soon for your return stay. Maintenance staff have been by the room to repair the bathroom fan and sweep the high wood beams. We do have a few cottages that we allow dogs, but we do not allow them in our... More

What a wonderful place for a family getaway! We have been here before when our family was younger and now returning with adult children for some family fun on the high ropes and rock wall was great! The summer sales packages didn't fit our tight schedule so the staff were extremely accommodating in creating a 'just for us' package that... More

When we had outdoor education at strathcona, it was a lifetime experience. The guides were friendly and they were great teachers, their explanations were very clear. The food was satisfactory, and I loved the way they incorporated a big bell that would ring for dinner.

Very basic accommodation and food and not inexpensive. The Westcoast Wildnerness Lodge on the Sunshine Coast is comparable in price but much better value in terms of accommodation and food, with comparable surroundings, but geared differently to the adventure market that Starathcona focusus on however.

There were many great things that cannot be argued...great views, clean wonderful waters and the really the only lodge in Strathcona Park. BUT this is a very tired place and I am sure at one time was fantastic. Unlike other review i found the rooms clean but the grounds around the Lodge could use a serious clean up. The beach... More

We came to Vancouver Island for a friend's wedding in Campbell River and decided to extend our stay into a small vacation. We selected Strathcona Park Lodge for its location and natural, easy-going feel and couldn't have been happier with our stay. We used SPL as a base for a variety of trips around the island to explore the surrounding... More

We went to Strathcona lodge for our close friends wedding in July 2010. The only thing going for this place is the absolutely beautiful scenery around it. I requested a room with a mini fridge for my father in laws medication before arriving and it became a HUGE ordeal. I was willing to pay more for a room with a... More

It's unfortunate to hear your experience at SPL wasn't more pleasant. There was beautiful weather for the wedding - 28 degrees C and blue sky. I saw many of the patio doors wide open throughout the weekend, which provides a cooling breeze as well as inviting the 'wilderness' indoors - hence the mouse and spiders attracted to the lights. The... More
