We stayed at Maplebird House for two nights at the end of a long trip and found it to be, unquestionably, one of the highlights of our tour of the Maritimes. If one needs a reason to avoid impersonal hotels and opt for the local taste of a place, then Maplebird House is a splendid choice. A beautiful house, excellent... more

A delightful mix of Canadian friendliness and English charm, the Maplebird House epitomizes the roots of the B&B experience. The rooms are decorated to enhance the historic character of the house, while offering modern amenities. From the back porch with a glider, a rolling lawn and a terrific private swimming pool to the breakfast offerings (lovely fresh cut fruit, every... more

My husband & I needed a base from which we could house hunt. we were looking for a house on th South Shore of Nova Scotia and Lunenburg seemed the most central location. When Susie Scott & Barry Chapelle, the owners of the 1826 Maplebird House learned of our quest, they pulled out all the stops to assist us. Sitting... more

The hosts, Susie and Barry, were so warm and welcoming - they extended every courtesy in an extremely professional manner and the breakfasts were wonderful - homemade muffins that were out of this world. The entire establishment was spotless and most comfortable. all in all it was a marvelous experience which I hope to repeat this summer. more

Susie and Barry are the perfect hosts. We were made so welcome the moment we arrived and throughout our entire stay. The breakfasts are just "the best" with all the little touches that one doesn't get at home. Decorated beautifully with fabulous hospitality, this is a "must come back" property to visit. We'll be back - no doubt. more

We stayed at the Maplebird B&B for a small family reunion. In fact, this house was built by our great-great grandfather (although we had never been there before). Barry and Susie were great hosts, gracious, and excited to welcome our entire family. They introduced us to the town and several nearby residents and helped in every way they could. We... more

I stayed at this B&B for two nights. It has 4 rooms in total. One of the rooms (the one I had) is on the second floor. It is a windy and narrow stairway and you have to duck to avoid hitting your head on the ceiling. The ceiling in the room also requires you to be careful to not... more

Maplebird's charm and character reflects that of Lunenburg perfectly. Barry and Susan warmly welcome their guests and are a fountain of information about local venues and history. The spotless rooms are spacious with modern amenities such as full shower and ensuite yet retain their original architectural detail. For example the bathroom still locks with the skeleton key provided . If... more
