the campsites are crammed together, and the day is long in the summer. people let their kids run wild so it is impossible to sleep. no picnic tables near tents (for bear control) but it is hard to get a spot at the group tables. beware there are no flush toilets, only pits. the mosquitos were absolutely awful in july- there is no escape. i got hundreds of bites even though i covered up, used bug spray and stayed in the tent as much as possible when in the campground.
the setting is beautiful and big mountains and glaciers are easily visible. le relais snack bar has excellent tasty treats. the hiking in the lake ohara region is incomparable. next time, though, i will stay at the lodge!
