This campground has it all. The sites are private, clean, quiet, near or on the beach, and natural! It's well worth the drive; which isn't that bad unless you've never been on windy gravel roads before. I am afraid there aren't many campgrounds that are as wonderful as this one!!! No problems whatsoever! I highly recommend. I actually went in... More

A gorgeous site. And with the interesting little town of Bamfield close by, well worth the effort required to get there. The washboard gravel roads won't be for everyone and after trying the route from the west end of Lake Cowichan on the way out and the route through Port Alberni on the way back, I would definitely recommend the... Lets start by stating that the drive in with our truck and 12' tent trailer was not quite as bad as previous commenters make it out to be. If you have been a city slicker your whole life then maybe it could be viewed as horrible with 'pot holes the size of my car'. However, the dirt road is riddled... More

The drive to Pachena Bay Campground horrible! It's on a logging road so dust is everywhere, and there is holes on the road all over. But, Pachena Bay Campground was amazing! Especially the the sites where it is just you and then the beach. We stayed for 5 nights and it was great. The bathrooms were close and always being... More

This was a long drive but totally worth it. Take note, the gravel road is a long and extremely bumpy one so don't bring a shiney new car up there. It's great to find a place so far away. It was peaceful and the campgrounds were great. You can have a campfire right on the beach. Remember to bring wood... More

Getting to this beautifull spot is an adventure. The active logging road was a little scary at times with potholes bigger than my car! I would definitely recommend a truck to get there. The campsites were a little disappointing (not secluded enough) and not at all what we were lead to believe...the outhouses were filthy and the gargage bins were... More

The campsites were huge and very treed in and private... the beach was steps away from the campsite which was great. Showers were ok but the out houses well there were not enough of them lol we had to drive down to them if we had to go bad lol but overall its was a great place to camp and... More

We took the logging road to get to Pachena Bay, and it was much more difficult than we naively expected. The 80 km stretch of winding, narrow logging roads is a mix of loose gravel, pot holes, one-lane bridges and hills with many curves and elevation changes. We drove a sedan, and would definitely recommend taking a truck, as it... More

Pachena Bay is lovely. But this campground is a complete dump. The garbage is piled up 4 ft high outside of locked (!) dumpsters. The outhouses are over-flowing and they have no TP. The nice shower house photo the Huuayaht First Nations tribe uses on their website and literature was taken when it was new but now it too, is... More
