Magpies is a lovely hotel set in the high street in Woburn. The 2 rooms we had were very comfortable, clean and each had a individual style, obviously a lot of time and thought and care was put into decorating each room. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was... more

The Magpies is a lovely small hotel in the stunning village of Woburn. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, advising us on activities that we could do locally. The room was very clean and comfortable. There is a lovely little pub full of locals who were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The restaurant offered... more

I booked into Magpies Hotel as it was the best value option in Woburn. I could not have been more pleased with my experience. The room was lovely, very well furnished and full of character. We had a few dinks in the bar ( pub ) which was warm and relaxing, before going off to the wedding, The staff were... more

This is a lovely hotel in a traditional Georgian building in a pretty Georgian town high street. It is charming and has uneven walls and floors and traditional furniture. The breakfast was plentiful and good. The only drawback was that whoever prepared the room forgot to turn the radiators on so the room was cold. Once we turned them on,... more

I have recently stayed at Magpies, whilst attending a wedding at Woburn Abbey. We were asked by the manager to write a review on Trip Advisor, as she mentioned that an ex-employee with a grudge had recently been writing a lot of bad reviews. I'm not aware of those, as when I booked the hotel had quite good reviews, but... more

Heard about the new italian chef and the food was great and the atmosphere was positive and calm. We were able to have business meeting throughout our stay with no interruptions. Rooms lovely, thats about the best comment. We were away for a wedding as a family, needed two rooms as have three teenagers. On arrival could not have lunch, as no chef, alarm bells ringing as booked table for dinner following night. Pub has good beer and staff quite friendly. Breakfast well! Transport cafe springs to mind. Already knew no... more

We have taken on board the guests comments, and at last managed to recruit a chef to cook breakfasts . The member of staff mentioned has also left. The hotel also has a new very experienced French manager who is raising the standards in all areas. The restaurant being her principle focus. We apologise to these guests for their unfortunate...

Four of us visited Magpies Hotel for lunch on Sunday. The fact the dining room was more or less empty should have set alarm bells ringing. Three of us chose bangers and mash and one chose goats cheese salad. The goats cheese salad was as it said on the tin - some salad with a bit of goats cheese. No... more

We now have a new chef. We had to employ a contract chef to cover a period of absense who turned out to be not as good was we were promised ,and certainly expected. He was not cheap either !!! We apologised to the customers and discounted their meals. We have high standards but let the customers down on this...
