The Sodbury House Hotel, could, and should be better. The convenient location and spacious grounds offer great potential. It’s clean and comfortable, with a varied, substantial breakfast. Somehow, it just did not do enough to impress. The "X Factor" was missing. More attention to the small details that turn “satisfactory” into “good” would reap dividends.

The hotel looks fine from the outside. However, the room that I was given was small, cold, and generally not comfortable. The owners were friendly and breakfast was acceptable, but overall the hotel is poor value especially when compared to the excellent B&Bs in the area.

We had the room in the attic. It was very large but well worn . The bathroom was huge but too much mold around the tub caulking. The water pressure was low so the shower was not that refreshing after a long hike on the Cotswold Way. The matress needed to be replace as we rolled into the middle and... More

This hotel has friendly staff and a pleasant enough reception area and stairs to the bedrooms. I felt quite positive as I made my way upstairs and was given room 1. My views changed. The room was poorly lit with awful furniture and an uncomfy bed. The shower room smelled dreadful and I had to keep the bedroomn window open... More

We got married at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall on 9th June and we (the bride and groom) stayed her ealong with a number of our wedding party. In fact we took over the whole hotel! The owner of the hotel, was fantastic from the second our guests arrived (some travelled up the night before and stayed for two nights). Guy... More

Arrived and was greeted by a friendley man who I believe to be the owner. was shown to room 1 which was very small and cold. The furnature was dated and the desk was not stable and the bed was not very comfortable. The Shower leaked water over the floor when switched on but was powerful and warm, which could... More

I had a short 1 night stay here in late April 2012 for a business meeting the following day in Chippenham. Warm, friendly welcome, when I arrived just after 9pm after a 4 hour drive from 'up north'. The room was fine, meeting all my needs. The breakfast was exceptionally nice and the service was first class. The proprieter also... More

I was not very impressed with Room 4 others may be better, the shower leaked, the TV was tiny, the room was very poorly lit, the tiny travel kettle in the room was full of limescale and yellow on the inside. I stayed here on business and as there was no internet this was a problem. Probably won't stay here... More

A great little hotel. We stayed one night in Dec 11 and we were given room 15. It was massive, the biggest hotel room i have stayed in for a while. It was clean, very comforable and the bathroom was also very big. The owners were very accomodating and were willing to go the extra mile to help us. The... More

We stayed three nights at the Sodbury House Hotel while attending a race weekend at Castle Combe. The room was clean and well presented as was the bathroom, we had no complaints about the room. Breakfast was also very good with a range of things on the menu. The staff were the thing that made this place shine, Guy is... More
