I think one of the reviewers on this site must have been confused describing this average B&B as a hotel. Pros: Room clean, landlady lovely and friendly, value to be had at 50 for a double. Cons: Room very small, not nice fry up for breakfast next morning (tinned tomatoes anyone?) more

Booked room at last minute and couldn't have been happier with stay. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Landlady was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Would recommend anyone to stay here. Very good value for money at £50 for a double room. more

We are a small business that needed to board some of our freelancers during week. The Cumberland is close enough to the train station by bus or taxi, reasonably priced & is several minutes walk from busy North Street for evening food & drinks. All our guests were very happy with our choice of guesthouse; their rooms (ensuite doubles) were... more

I needed a place to stay to get an early flight out of Bristol, so I can't really judge the location or the city. It's about 10-15 mins in a cab from the train station. I arrived in the evening and the landlady was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean, the bathroom was modern. It's a... more

Room clean and welcoming. Bathroom clean, shower very good, probably been refurbished recently. Mattress a bit old though (could feel the springs...) Heating average (radiator not very powerful). English breakfast very good. Landlady and staff nice, not too intrusive although a bit more touristic information would have been nice. Leave by 10am, we were able to stay for an extra... more

We spent one night at the Cumberland House -- that was one night too many. The room was decorated in a Winnie-the-Poh style, the carpets were worn, the bed was not large enough. Management was nice and supportive but next time we would look elsewhere. more

Despite having a group booking, several rooms were cancelled at the last minute by the landlady to accomodate her "regular guests" - did she not remember them when we first asked for rooms? When I went to tell the landlady that the main light in my room didn't work, the response was "You've got a bedside light haven't you?". The... more

This B&B has some really good points and some bad. The good: - Friendly owners - Nice size rooms - Reasonably Priced = £50 for double/twin en suite. - Great breakfast - quick service & plenty of choice - Location - we wanted to be close to a friend's house in Bedminster but not too far from Temple Meads. It... more

The Cumberland Guest House is a very friendly family run place. I booked an en suite room which was very clean and spacious. They provide nice little touches like shampoo sachets, soap, shower gel. Tea and coffee making facilities and TV in the room. It is also well heated and Ironing boards and hairdryers are available. Full English breakfast is... more

Do not stay here at all. We had arranged to stay here after travelling down from Scotland. After a 7 hour journey we called the landlord to ask for some help finding the guesthouse. He directed us in totally the wrong way. After eventually finding a way back to a spot we had previously been at we called him again... more
