Stayed at this HDV last night... first impressions were good- a sensitively restored sugar house, pleasant inner courtyard, sweeping stair case. Unfortunately the service is really lacking... the receptionist started checking us in only to be interrupted by a colleague asking her about a date wedding booking, and they spoke about that for a minute or so leaving us standing... more

Oh dear! You could damn this hotel by saying it's all fur coat and no knickers. But that would be ungenerous. The staff were all excellent, friendly, helpful, and the receptionist I dealt with was the best I have ever come across. Anywhere. But there are problems. 1:They fully admit sat nav systems don't find their establishment. That's disaster because... more

Bristol Hotel du Vin iaa lovely hotel that could so easily elevate itself from very good with niggles to absolutely great. Some of that is down to room details and some, for me, to service. On arrival, we were told there was no parking remaining, and reminded about the nearby NCP. We had looked out for it as we drove... more

We stayed at the Hotel du Vin on Saturday night and also had dinner at the Bistro. Public areas were generally nice, although the bistro is clearly "over-decorated" in a Hollywood-bistro taste. At check in, no one asked whether we needed assistance with our luggage, neither were we shown the elevators. We were asked, however, to sign a credit card... more

The welcome was anything but - the girl on reception needs a lesson in making people FEEL welcome. A smile would help. The room in the eaves was so tiny that I bashed my leg on the bedside table everytime I walked in the room. But, in contrast, the bathroom was huge! The remote for the TV didn't work -... more

I booked this as a treat for my partner's birthday. They were offering a Summer Promotion on their website and when I rang the central booking number they said it wasn't available in Bristol, but I then rang the hotel itself and they were able to offer a deal, a bit more than advertise on the website, but still a... more

Oh so nearly great. My wife and I stayed at Hotel Du Vin for our first wedding anniversary and pushed the boat out by booking the Veuve Clicquot suite - it’s a duplex with twin baths as its key feature. Overall this is a lovely hotel, but could have been even better with a little attention to detail. First the... more

Lovely little hotel. Room was clean and modern with fab bathroom. Main room had huge bed with sky sports (always a nice extra). Fantastic bar with sofa's and mood lighting plus an extensive wine and beer list. Restaurant was superb both for dinner and breakfast. I would definitley go back! more

This hotel is a very nice place to stay - apart from wine and salad. Given the chains name I would have expected them to serve a £40 bottle of Pouilly Fumé at a temperature that was not cold but not icy. The effort however it took to ensure that the wine we had bought was not left in an... more

We stayed there for one night on our way to Glastonbury. The rooms are excellent with plenty of individual character. The beds were soooooo comfortable and the shower was great. The staff were very helpful and more than accomodating. They allowed us to store some of our bags until we returned from the festival - this was much appreciated and... more
