We had a two night stay in this stunningly maintained, unpretentious whilst grand building. This is the jewel of the Historic Hotels group which the other two might learn a few points in service from. The dining room though formal was relaxing and comfortable with food that showed culinary flair that few would be able to copy.. The breakfast, followed... More

We stay here for the night with some friends we hadn't seen for a long time. The house is National Trust and the interior is beautiful and interesting. Sweeping up a long staircase you come to the rooms in the main house on the second floor. Our room was spacious and comfortable with an authentic aged charm. The bed was... More

This place is great! Stunning garden and grounds which you can go for a walk and relax. Their spa is also great. Service is brilliant and the food from the restaurant is amazing. They do struggle a bit when it is busy and they can't accommodate spa request at the last minute (reason for 4 stars only) but I can... More

The house and the setting were outstanding as the website suggests. The food and the level of service were particularly good. What was somewhat surprising was that everyone seemed to enjoy working there. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. When our party of 15 tried to come up with improvements, we really struggled and we are fussy! Really... More

A beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and good service. The food at the breakfast buffet was pretty average for the price of the stay. Also very odd that they can't provide a valet service for the cars because their insurers exclude it?!!

I visited the Spa for a 'Twilight Spa Experience' which includes a 55 minute treatment and a 2 course meal in the Spa Cafe. The cost was £65 and given that the treatment alone is usually £58, then this package is a real bargain!!!! I opted for a 'Clarins Blend Personal Body Treatment' which consisted of a full body massage... More

Visited Hartwell House for afternoon tea on a week day in April. The House is absolutely stunning as are the grounds. We were served tea in the drawing room. Afternoon tea is a set affair with a selection of dainty sandwiches, tiny little cakes and scones and your choice of various different teas or coffee. At £25 per person it... More

We booked three rooms over the bank holiday weekend. We had been nervous of the hotel being busy over the bank holiday and we were new to the area and hotel. Reception staff were first class and upgraded our rooms without being asked. Period charm oozed from the rooms and we felt very special in our galleried rooms. Dinner was... More

We stayed as part of a wedding anniversary celebration with friends and family, and everything was perfect, even the weather. The grounds were a joy to explore, the food and wine was very good. Our rooms were lovely, and the waitress who looked after our party was very caring. Thank you Hartwell House.
