After reading some reviews we were a little sceptical but decided to try for ourselves. The Staff we saw were very friendly. The rooms were small but sufficient and were very clean. The owner was happy to give us advice on where the best places were for visitors to see depending on what we were looking for. We both decided... more

When we arrived at the hotel, a guest was shouting at staff, claiming it was the worst guest house they'd ever stayed in. This was unfair, however standards were low. The room i stayed in hadnt been cleaned properly, the toilet was dirty, there was a dirty towel left in my room and the milk left for tea and cofee... more

We booked the Acorn via the helpful tourist information office. Cambridge was very busy and there were few rooms available so we didn't check Tripadvisor first. This guest house is a big dissapointment. The welcome was, to be fair, very freindly from a young lady I assume is the daughter of the owners. Our 'family room' on the ground floor... more

The staff were very unfriendly. We made a large group booking and then were given conflicting information about whether some people were able to cancel last minute - the proprietor was abrupt and unpleasant in manner. more

The room we booked for 2 nights was in the annex (which we knew) and was sold to us as a small double room. We took small to mean the size of the room - not the size of the bed!! It was a tiny room with a 4ft bed up against one wall - no mirror in the bedroom... more

Way too expensive! I must admit that I am not the B&B type, but I figured it would be ok for one night. Wrong. The smell of bacon throughout the whole house was troubling considering that it was 3:00 pm when we arrived. The room was very small and the mattress desperately needed to be replaced. The toilet would flush... more

My husband and I stayed at Acorn Guesthouse for three nights and we will certainly never return there. First of all, when we came in, we got an unfriendly welcome from the owner who was obsessed with having us fill a credit card information form even if we already gave him all our information by phone. We asked for a... more

How we happily but accidently ended up at the Acorn: we had a room booked in advance next door at the Worth House, but when we showed up, they acted like they weren't expecting us. they obviously had bumped us b/c we were only booked one night and they got a longer booking from someone else, would've been nice if... more

We stayed at the Acorn for one night, having booked at the last minute. We picked it over others in the area because it included breakfast in the price. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you are looking for somewhere to stay for a long period of time. We needed somewhere close to our friends house, clean, with breakfast and... more

Not the most welcoming of bed and breakfasts. My "room" couldn't fit me and my suitcase. The curtains were fixed (I couldn't close them), and with the hotel sign lit up all night outside my window it wasn't very pleasant and didn't make sleeping easy. The bathroom was not clean, and I was disappointed when my shower never warmed up.... more
