We stayed in the self catering accommodation, however, there is the opportunity to have the excellent evening meals in the restaurant. The bedroom with the ensuite bathroom and sitting room/kitchen were nicely decorated and well equipt. An added touch was the tea and coffee making items ready for our arrival. The balcony leads out from the bed room to the... more

First impressions from the outside - lovely, traditional Guernsey house. First impressions from the inside - dated and in desperate need of updating. The welcome was uber efficient, but a tad frosty ( a smile would have gone a long way).... The room again was in need of updating, but the 'style' may well appeal more to the continental guest.... more

My wife and I returned to Le Chene after two previous visits in 1959 and 1984 to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The accomodation was most comfortable and the staff were most helpful and courteous. The food was of the highest standard. The Chef is to be commended. I was a little concerned that, contrary to the hotel information supplied,... more

This was the second time I went to Le Chene. First time with spouse about 6 months ago. We had a good time. Located near beach side, nice for a stroll, and other walking areas closeby. Good atmosphere and friendly service. Kitchen is good both in the morning and for diner. In May I returned with friends to play golf... more

We just had a four day stay in the Chene hotel. The staff was trying their best and the comfort was quite good, given the old and typical characteristics of the hotel and building. The cooking was really excellent. Easy reachible from the airport and good walks by the beach, just out of the hotel. more

First impressions were poor. Reception looks like a better class cab office. Greeting polite and efficient but not particularly welcoming. Corridors are narrow and look like they were last decorated in 1985. Superior room similar era but a good size, very clean and good furniture. Bathroom large, well-equipped, nice towels but again 1985. What won us over was the restaurant.... more

Thank you for your comment. Our reception could do with a 'face lift' which is being undertaken September 2009. Rooms are comfortable but you are right a bit traditional in style. We plan to redecorate a large part of the rooms this winter. At the end of the day though, it will never be a chique boutique hotel and the...

Stayed here recently with the wife in a superior room. Nice clean room no problems there, the only issue the bed was very very hard as were the pillows. Staff and hotel owner very friendly and polite. We ate there a few nights and it was excellent value for money, £15 for 3 courses! Guernsey has very small narrow roads... more

Thank you for your review. The hotel offers matrass toppers for those who prefer a softer matrass. I did have a look at this particular room though (i assume it was 18 ?) and the matrass was a bit too firm , needed and will be replaced this week. It is sometimes difficult to judge, continental guests seem to prefer...

we stayed in one of the more basic rooms for three nights. It was fine, it was very clean and quiet. The location is great - near the bus stops for town and for the beaches and within walking distance of the war museum, tunnels and little chapel. The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful and their... more
