We have just stayed at the Strathearn . Like Michael we had the large family room, beds and bedding very tired, need replacing. Did not like the fact the mattress was plastic coated, very thin and hard. The en suite was very unsuitable no roof and a plastic folding door. No info in the room to say what breakfast options we had or... More

First of all, never trust the Internet. When I was looking for somewhere to stay in Chester and put in my required dates, it told me that Strathearn didn't have any vacancies. In desperation, I phoned on the off chance, looking for a single room, and they did have one. Unfortunately, it was not en suite, but obviously this kept... More

Great for hiring bikes. Owner was very helpful and friendly and picked out bikes for us. Helmets are included in the price. Bikes are of a very high quality and great to ride. It costs £12 for the day and £8 for the half day (after 3pm). Would definitely recommend!

We booked the family room which had enough beds which were very firm the onsuite has no roof so open to the bedroom not the most pleasant thing with 2 15year old boys with you not very private. The owner was a very nice chap but i could not understand why he wanted the breakfast order the night before as... More

I'm honestly surprised reading your review you kindly left for us. Originally you booked in here for two nights. In the morning, after breakfast, all of a sudden you cancelled your second night letting me down and as a result I could not re-let the room. You travelled further into Wales as the weather turned better. I'm a really flexible... More

I've been meaning to write for a while to say how much we enjoyed our stay! As part of a large group of cyclists on an outing through the area, we chose this B&B for its location and for the great advice and general helpfulness of the landlord when booking. We were not dissapointed by the service and full breakfast... More

Dear Zender_444, Thanks for choosing Strathearn B&B to stay at during your holiday. I'm really glad you hired a bicycle here. This is the only place in Chester where you can hire bikes. The business of Chester Cycle Hire operates under the same address as Strathearn B&B and there is a special offer for guests staying at the B&B. Hope... More

We stayed in this establishment in 2008, at which time it was acceptable. On the latest trip, we stayed on the top floor which had a very small and 'tired' double bed ("double" is pushing it) which was very uncomfortable, The ablutions were meant for midgets, and the nearby church bell rings all the way through to midnight (the latter... The size of bed and washbasin is adequate - it was assessed many times by Visitbritain and a B&B is rated a really good value 3 star. You booked a double room and got a double room with a standard size double bed in it, not smaller by a single inch as it was in 2008 even if it was... More

Great location in a pretty area of Hoole. Convenient walking distance from/to train station and city centre. Beautiful wooden floors in a main hallway and breakfast area. Clean. Warm and home atmosphere. Wireless internet. Would definitely recommend. Big thanks for the help with getting around Chester.
