Shocking - nice enough building from the outside-but the rooms are filthy and worn. Our bed was uncomfortable, bathroom disgusting, staff decidedly luke-warm, parking inadequate, food mediocre...the whole experience depressing and disappointing. Yuk. more

Before I start this review I didn't get as far as staying at the hotel. I booked a room on the 31st October through late rooms. What a mistake!!!! Late rooms were great but the hotel??? Booked this through Laterooms.com who were very helpful.Six of us stayed here during Chester Races weekend and stayed in 3 rooms(2 doubles and a twin). I recently stayed at Ye olde kings head with my daughter, we were flying out to Chicago via Manchester Airport and thought we would spend a couple of days in chester as i had heard such a lot about the place. Do not stay here we went for my birthday in march 2008,rooms dirty, pub staff rude, breakfast reheated absolutely disgusting -how did they get there food rating! staff unhygienic not even ready on time we got our money back it was so bad The owner/chef even cooked in his outdoor clothing -reported all this to food safety they are investigating more
