On arrival, once we found the place, it seemed an imposition on the staff to show us our room. As they were quiet, we had a choice of room but found them all as bad as each other. The rooms had everything - kettle, TV, etc, but they were generally very poorly presented. Very poor quality furnishings (I have seen similar in skips) and linen, and the standard of the bathroom (clearly an add-on, and poorly installed) was dire. We decided to camp in a tent the next night instead of paying money for such poor quality! The breakfast the next day was acceptable but in general the atmosphere was bad, the service was bad, and the standard of accomodation barely made it worth paying for. I commented on the high price for what you recieved on check out and the owner couldn't seem to understand my point at all! more

For:
Fairly cheap. Huge English breakfast. Friendly helpful waitress.

Against:
Room had cheap furniture with ill co-ordinated furnishings, ill-fitting thin curtains. TV viewable from only one bed as bracket swivelled towards window. Shower room was DIY hardboard cubicle in corner with mish-mash of fittings and terrible dribbly shower and basin tap that was poorly fitted so swivelled.
Small threadbare towels. View over untidy back yard and washing. (Rooms at front overlook road).
Worst of all both nights disturbed by other very noisy guests, on first night until 5.30 am.
Complaint to owner in morning had no affect as it all began again at 11pm on second night. Had to make phone call to number on back of room door which was difficult as mobile signal poor. Eventually someone from adjoining guest house came in and sorted problem, but this is perhaps indicator of calibre of guests. Overall an unpleasant experience.
