We stopped in one of the cottages at the rear of the hotel, apart from a bit of a steep drive up to the car park we found it to be fantastic value for money and a really friendly and warm place to stay. (3 day late winter deal was an unbelieveable £129.00). The Cottages are lovely, we had a... more

We spent a weekend here at the end of October. Having read the reviews on here before we booked, we were looking forward to a luxury weekend away and fine dining, and the price certainly lived up to this billing. Whilst the hotel and restaurant are both of a good standard, both are looking a little tired and in need... more

We stayed for 4 nights as a half-term break. I'd agree with the many other comments that the hotel facilities, meals and particulary the service are of a high standard. We had 2 evening meals in the restaurant as well as the breakfasts, and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The unobtrusive service made us feel both comfortable and well cared for... more

We have stayed here before and had a wonderful, memorable stay. It is very rare that we go back to anywhere twice because there are so many places that we haven't yet stayed in. But when comparing prices for other hotels in Cornwall, we had to come back because it offers better value. We had a king size room overlooking... more

Everything was top class, especially the food! The staff were very friendly, they so obviously enjoyed working at this beautiful place. It was not cheap but you cannot expect this level of accommodation and service for peanuts, unfortunately! Reading these reviews, some people are obviously never satisfied - please discount their opinions. We had a wonderful few days here and... more

Stayed for a couple of nights in October. This was our second time at the Barclay House and I have to say that levels of cleanliness and quality of food are as high as ever. In fact the food may be even better (don't think I have had a better dining experience - anywhere). This, combined with the friendliness and... more

Stayed here for one night passing through to St.Austell. For £140 room was expensive as average decor but view was outstanding. They kindly agreed to us drinking our own wine on the terrace and that was not because we were tight its just the particular wine we enjoy. The outside pool was open and apparently heated but one finger in... more

Excellent customer service from arrival to departure and very nice public areas. Lovely views from room but felt room was very overpriced for what it was (but perhaps you are paying for public areas as well as these are lovely). I paid £140 for the room but furniture looks cheap and flat pack, carpets were stained and bathroom was scuffed... more
