The Hotel Website looked very appealing, how wrong could I have been. After a 400 mile journey my family and I were looking forward to relaxing in our seafront hotel. Upon arrival it was very soon evident that cleaning was not a priority of the management. The reception area was dark, dusty and extremely dated. We booked 3 rooms and... more

I must admit when we first pulled up at the hotel we were a little dissappointed, but that soon dissappeared. The staff were so friendly and helpful we ended up having a great holiday. The food was excellent. It was very much a hotel for the elderly but with the summer holidays starting there were more families arriving. If you... more

We visited the Tolcarne as part of a coach holiday to Newquay. Although the staff were friendly, and there was nothing terrible about the hotel, I'd like to advise other visitors that the hotel is very shabby and the food is only okay, and certainly not wonderful. The room we had was smaller than I'd expect, with just the basics... more

My daughter and I stayed at The Tolcarne Hotel from 26th August to 2nd September. Fantastic Location. Great views. Friendly staff. Good food and plenty of it. (Thumbs up for the Treacle Sponge and Custard!!) Rooms a little dated but aren't most seaside hotel bedrooms? Our room at The Tolcarne was better than some we've had in Devon and Cornwall!!... more

We have just arrived back after spending a lovely week in Newquay - having 3 boys aged 10 11 and 12 it is difficult to find hotels to accomodate a 'large' family (more than 2.5). The Tolcarne were only happy to accomodate. We had 3 different rooms on the first night, 2 of which were clean, but very dated, the... more

The only good thing about my 5 day stay was that it had a sea view. Dining - the staff did their best but could not make any difference to the food. Most of it came from a frozen pack or a tin. When given a choice for dinner by the last day it was a case of deciding what... more

Enjoyed my holiday in Newquay, visiting the surrounding villages and attractions excellent however, what a shame about the Tolcarne Hotel. En-suite was carpeted and as a result of "Bad Shots" the room had a very unpleasant odour. My room was directly above the ballroom stage and the evening entertainment kept us awake until it's conclusion. The room next door had... more
