Stayed in the 2 bedroom studio attached to the main house. Generally the place is good, staff very helpful and location was quite good. We found and booked the bed and breakfast pretty much last minute so all in all a good place. The only negative feedback I have is that it is quite tired looking....else great atmosphere. more

We stayed for 4 nights last year in a very wet rainy August. The hotel is a wonderful place - like your old family home. We were made instantly welcome by the relaxed but attentive staff, especially our 2 children, then 6 and 4. Our room was gorgeous; spacious with a scrumptiouly comfortable bed. The children had an interconnecting room... more

Having used Trip Advisor to find a hotel for the night while we were travelling, We came across reviews for several hotels around the town of Penzance and so we took a look around at some of them before committing to one hotel. On pulling up to the Abbey Hotel (driving up an old stone slipway from the harbour) we... more

The Abbey Hotel sits above the slipway to the inner harbour of Penzance. It is a wonderful small hotel with great charm. The staff led by Thaddeus are so helpful and pleasant. My bedroom which was very comfortable, complete with antiques, looked across Penzance harbour to St. Michael's Mount and the bathroom window looked down to the hotel's garden. The... more

Fabulous history, fabulous decor, fabulous garden, fabulous food and (most importantly) fabulous service! Our only regret was that we didn't try dinner in the restaurant until the last night -- equally fabulous! Thad and Ben provided exceptional service. We would love to come back sometime. more

Pros: The Hotel Restaurant, Good location, Excellent Service, Very Comfortable Rooms, Fantastic Eating! Cons: Limited parking, tricky stairs, not-so-thick walls, available Internet access stinks My wife, dog, and I stayed here for one Friday night on a long Easter weekend. Ben at the front desk made us feel instantly welcome. He left the front desk and met us at our... more

Our village, knowing that Carole wanted to stay at the Abbey, booked two nights in the Suite for us this week, as a birthday present for her. This was fortuitous, since the rest of the hotel, other than the breakfast room (excellent food in front of an open log fire) was closed for renovation. This was however irrelevant - the... more

What a welcoming hotel. Very comfortable and interesting, with beautiful furnishings. We arrived very bedraggled after a rough crossing from the isles of scilly, to be greeted by the manager, who immediately got us to our rooms and looked after us. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely return. more

Booked last minute on Fri 5th Jan - the hotel were due to close. We arrived the next day and had a warm welcome - the hotel is warm and cosy and bursting with character. You can view all the rooms on their website, but we were in rm 1 which is the biggest. Most rooms have sea view and... more

We have just come back from a weekend at the Abbey in Penzance. The hotel is an excellent upmarket small/ family run hotel. The staff are extremely helpful, in fact nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean - the style was very "Shabby chic". The hotel was generally very relaxing and the gardens were... more
