Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for a couple of nights,we stayed on the electric pitch which is lovely, you’re met with a view of the beach and a field of cows which is nice and there’s also only about 11 other people on that patch if fully booked. Wifi is there however it didn’t work for myself or my partner at all. Dogs are allowed on camp but told to be kept on leads ,this didn’t seem to be the case ,I had a dog run at me and growl and next to us there was a family who had three dogs who constantly ran around the campsite scaring my son and another lady there, there’s no enforcement of dogs on leads which I did find a struggle at times. Facilities are amazing, nice clean toilets and showers & we forgot our tent pegs but were luckily able to purchase some from the honesty shop for cheap!! The campsite is a 5 minute walk from the beach ,it is uphill on the way back and all on the road but not a problem at all. Overall a lovely campsite would recommend :)

We've been visiting Higher Pentreath as a couple for over 6 years and for me over 30 years since childhood. Always such a warm welcome, clean loos, hot showers and the site overall is spotless. Beautiful views of Praa Sands, especially from Henry's Field, and all in all an absolute must place to visit. Try and visit when they have some entertainment- to hear the Bryhers Boys sing against the backdrop of Praa is out of this world. Come rain or shine it's the best!!

Everything you would expect from a campsite and more! Very accommodating and friendly. Has everything you need: warm showers, washing facilities, dog friendly and a choice of electric or non electric hook-up. We were a large group and had plenty of space which was great to play games, bbq and generally chill. Such a short walk down to the beach (Praa Sands) which is beautiful. A local co-op is a 5 minute drive away and Penzance/ St Michael’s Mount just 15 minute drive. Thank you so much and look forward to next years trip!

Just come home from 10 days at this campsite. It was perfect for our family with 3 small children. Lots of choice where to pitch. We chose an area without a sea view but a bit less busy, however there are many different views to enjoy across the site. The toilet blocks were always clean and well maintained. We will definitely be back next year. The beach was perfect for the children. No complaints. I have read a few people complained about lack of information when you arrive on site, but this is all provided by email before you arrive. Only one suggestion, though I appreciate this is difficult to implement, would be more toilets for the men. I never had to queue even once for toilet or shower but my husband did. This would not affect us coming back though!

Looked for somewhere to stay as a group of 23 (families and young kids) and Claire was super helpful in helping us arrange our stay. The views were stunning. Our pitch was in the top field and it was so lovely and quiet with plenty of room for everyone. It was so safe that the kids could play safely without us worrying about them. Showers were basic but did the job and everything was very clean. We live locally and will be back. Thank you for having us!

This is a lovely campsite with a fantastic view. With the view you do get a sloping pitch but it was perfectly fine for us. There are flat pitches with less view if this is your priority. Campfires are allowed if fires are off the ground and the ground underneath is protected with breeze blocks. Shower blocks were very clean and well maintained, my daughters loved the female empowerment quotes on the back of each door. There were always enough (female) toilets and showers even at busy times. They even had two hairdryers, although only one was working. One request to the owners/managers please put more hooks on the doors for showers it would be very helpful. The men in the family complained that there weren’t enough facilities for the men and had to wait consistently for toilets. My boys complained about the mental health posters in the mens which asked them if they were feeling suicidal to ring a certain number. My boys said it was quite depressing going to the toilet. There are adequate washing up facilities, which are also well maintained, a washing machine and a dryer which is a brilliant addition to any campsite. A freezer to freeze ice blocks. The people who run the campsite are friendly and helpful. When I reported the freezer was unplugged and the ice blocks couldn’t therefore freeze, two people sorted the problem within five minutes. Wi-fi was good. On site there was a local Cornish band that came on the Friday night in the lower field and a crepe van turned up as well. The campsite is a 6-10 minute walk along a road with no pavements (watch out for cars), it is down a steep hill so be aware it is uphill on the walk back! The beach has two or three car parks all privately run with varying degrees of payments. There are toilets, a shop and a great place to hire any beach equipment, surfboards, kayaks, etc. Can highly recommend this place which also does surf lessons. John who runs this place is a natural teacher all four children (who are all varying in ability) had a surf lesson and loved it. We also hired kayaks to explore the coves and the next beach. John even gave the children a short kayaking lesson before they went out and told them the different types of jellyfish you could see. The place is called Boat shed activity centre and Stone Reef. I would highly recommend this campsite and would definitely use it again!

We have been visiting this family run campsite since my children were small and it has been such a pleasure to be able to take my grandchildren along to let them experience the same childhood fun that their parents did without need for a screen. This year was as wonderful as other years and we all enjoyed getting back to basics, playing until dusk and enjoying family time around the firepit as we watched the sun go down and the sky light up with an amazon backdrop for the red moon. We had 6 kids with us of various ages who all enjoyed their trips to the shower block and to do the washing up. The site offers either electric hook ups or like ours a back to basic pitch. There are plenty of showers available with good water pressure and we did not have to queue when we were there. The washing up room also has a washing machine and tumble dryer to use. The facilities are regularly cleaned and sanitised throughout the day and evening. Clare, lynette and the gang are always on hand to help with quiries and a big shout out for all those finishing touches. There was also a food wagon on site serving hot food and we were even treated to a special sea shanty performance which magically echoed across the valley. I would highly recommend Higher Pentreath campsite to anyone wanting get away from it all and obviously not forgetting the gorgeous sandy lifeguards beach a few minutes walk away.

We booked at the last minute. I was concerned about the possibility of being late, after reading the ts and cs. Clare emailed back swiftly, reassuring me not to worry if we were a little late. We checked in and found a lovely corner pitch at the top of the field. There was a lovely feel to the site, lots of groups, clearly enjoying being together. As a bank holiday weekend, at a campsite that allows groups, it was noisy until late. This is an observation, not a problem. It was relaxing to hear people laughing together. It is basic, it advertises it is basic, it charges a basic price. For us it was perfect and we are looking forward to our next visit.
