Two professional adults came to Harry’s Court in St Ives for a rest. And rest we did – reinforced by heavy colds which kept us in bed. This was not helped by the back befroom bed being decidely damp. However, the place warmed up, the slightly musty smell disappeared in a day. It probably hadn’t been used all winter. In the end no headland was walked around, no sea was swum in, no garden was visited. And the Tate Gallery was closed! Even the hire car went without a turn of its wheels.
The place was excellent otherwise. Superb position on the beach. But the balcony was unuseable, which was a disappointment.
Every restaurant within reach was sampled. They are all good, in particular the Alfresco on the front, The Wave, The Sea Food Café. Pasties, cheeses, cider, butter, cream, wine – all the wonderful food from Cornwall was enjoyed.
The bad bit was being turfed out at 10.00 am in spite of our telling them that we were not well and had to wait...
