Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent a peaceful three nights here. Catherine was an excellent host, cooking delicious filling breakfasts. The view from the window was excellent on the top floor and the walk-in wetroom/shower was an unexpected bonus. Would thoroughly recommend staying here.

We had a great stay in Gekko Lodge. The room (room 1) had a lovely sea view and was very quiet, with a comfortable bed and homemade cookies. Catherine's breakfasts were amazing, and she gave us good tips about St Ives. You can walk to the Tate and Porthmeor Beach from the B&B, and then it's just a short walk into town. St Ives is a lovely base to explore Cornwall, with St Michael's Mount, Lands End and Minack Theatre within a 40 mins drive. Don't miss a stroll around St Ives and watch the sunset from the terrace at Porthmeor Beach Cafe! We'd love to return and stay in Gekko Lodge again.

We had a fantastic week when staying at Gekko Lodge. Catherine could not have been more helpful both in recommending things to do, and in providing superb accomodation. Our room was clean, well presented and had a fantastic view. We were made to feel very welcome and the breakfasts were excellent. If you want somewhere to stay in St Ives, look no further than Gekko Lodge

What a wonderful place to stay. Amazing ocean and beach views from the top floor. Tasteful, modern design inside and well appointed. Catherine provides excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Overall, Gekko Lodge has a very relaxed, family feel that was worth coming all the way from Australia for. And such a beautiful part of the U.K. to take a holiday in.

Our second visit. Was great to go back. This time we went in room 1. Views were great and the breakfasts were brilliant and a great way to start the day. There were loads of great added touchs such as bringing up wine glasses when Catherine saw we had wine. Would highly recommend.

If you're looking for somewhere homely & chilled this is the B&B for you, Catherine is incredibly welcoming & helpful with tips on where to explore & great places to eat, she also cooks a mean breakfast. Opening the curtains in the morning to the sea view with distant surfers is the perfect way to start your day in Cornwall. It's a lovely little walk into St. Ives, the hill is a little steep on the walk back up but nonetheless still fun & worth it for the tranquility of the spot. I'd recommend anyone looking for a peaceful laid back few days in St Ives to stay in the company of Gekko Lodge.

This is a great little B&B with just two rooms, which was a plus for us as it was quiet and felt a little like a home from home rather than a more impersonal hotel-style place. The location was great as well - don't be put off by looking at a map and thinking it's far from the town itself: it isn't.

We were in room 2 which is at the top of the house which has an amazing view and a really good shower :) It was handy to have a mini-fridge in the room as well to take advantage of the local cider!

We couldn't really ask for more. We found a peaceful cosy place in a great location, and Catherine was a fantastic host who helped us out with some suggestions locally and also really knows how to cook a breakfast!

If we come back to St Ives, we'll definitely be staying here again.

We have just returned from a long weekend trip to Gekko lodge in St Ives and must say that we have never been to a b&b as good as this one. In fact it was better than most hotels we have been to in UK and abroad. Design of the rooms are very modern and whilst photos on website are good you do not believe how nice they are until you physically see them. Location is perfect... Literally 10 mins walk away from the main beach and that was with a 17 month old. Catherine who owns the b&b is very much focused on giving guests as much a pleasurable experience as possible and the breakfasts are top notch. We stayed in the room in the top floor, which was very spacious and en suite was always very clean. Views over the ocean and beach are lovely. We returned from holiday very relaxed and much credit has to be given to Gekko Lodge for this.

From arrival to leaving, this for me is the perfect b&b. No fussy overbearing landlady with too many rules but a young couple who seem to have a life. This reflects on how they run their business. It is relaxed and very comfortable. Many of the amenties are what you have at home, a great shower (with locally made toiletries), lovely towels, great coffee etc. Others, like that view out to sea we don't have. The breakfast choice is varied, cooked to order using local produce with the choice of a substantial continental breakfast if you prefer. Ok it is a little walk from the main area of St Ives but that brings interest if like me you are a bit nosey and you can see the real St Ives. Finally great walks from the doorstep and bespoke furniture .
