Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The waterproof mattress topper made the bed roasting hot and made me feel like a kid at risk of wetting the bed. The glass toilet door wasn't pleasant either. Otherwise nice hotel with good facilities

What a superb located house that has multiple rooms for different types of trips, you have rooms from the photos and booking options for single occupancy, couples retreat and a lovely family room we stayed in with a small toddler! The views from the front of the house was just phenomenal and have attached a photo for proof, the beds were comfortable and pillows too, only fault I found in the room 6 was the plug didn’t suction properly so I had to put some plastic around it to get it to just hold the water so I could bath my little one however this isn’t a dealbreaker as an easy fix reported to owners :) I would very much highly reccomend this place to stay especially out of season! Small car park within walking distance for you to get bags out etc, and even if your lucky out of season may I add (1/11 through to March) is free on the road right outside the place. I will definitely be re booking to come back in May time.

Me and my girlfriend had a lovely weekend staying here but only thanks to the location and the view/balcony in the room that we stayed in. We stayed in room five, it's a lovely big room with a lovely view and balcony but that being said, there were multiple stains on the carpet,a huge stain on the ceiling. Also there was seagull poo on the chairs on the balcony. For the money paid it wasn't up to standard, dated and needs love and attention. Also to mention that an American couple that was staying in the property had trouble with the washing machine. There was an error code and wouldn't unlock the door so they couldn't get there clothes out. After continuously trying to contact people from ocean house and no reply, they had to ring Hotpoint helpline and had to pay £15 for the information to get there clothes out of the washing machine. I think there customer service is disgusting how they didn't get back to those people, those people needed there clothes as they were moving on in the morning. I would definitely not stay here again for the money that they charge and the customer service issues. Not good enough.

I found two spiders in the bedroom. The place could be abit more clean. Don’t think it’s worth for the money we paid for. Needs more cleaning . The shower was quite slow and had not that much force .

I would never thought I'd leave a bad review about somewhere but we had an awful time at Ocean house! When we arrived the room was tiny, not the cleanest as there was dist, marks on the wall and radiators, very basic and the size of the room did not seem to meet the measurements provided in the description of the room, the room we stayed in was different to the pictures of what we were expecting. The walls were so thin that we could hear people's full conversations in different rooms! However the worst part of our stay was when we discovered a leak the morning after we arrived, there was water dripping through the light in the bathroom, we were on the bottom floor so the only explanation for this would be that there was a leaky pipe, we reported this to the property manager straight away at 9am who advised he would get the maintenance team to have a look. We went out in town and when we returned we saw a cleaner who advised yes we did have a leak (stating the obvious) and she had put our towels on the floor so gave us some new ones, she also advised someone would be coming out to have a look at this. We then recieved a message from the property manager who asked us to let him know if it continues, a few hours later I text again letting him know that we still had a leak, we were then advised a plumber would be around as soon as possible, then were told the maintenance team would be there in an hour, the 'maintenance team' arrived which was not the maintenance team but in fact the managers dad who told us his son couldn't find a plumber so sent him instead, he bought us a bucket and asked the upstairs neighbours if they were having any issues and concluded that a plumber needed to come out. Which we had been asking for all along! I asked the property manager when to expect an emergency plumber in which he replied some time over the weekend, this was Friday evening. I then had to ask if we would be entitled to a refund in which we were told if we stayed we would only be entitled to a 'partial refund'. The dripping got worse overnight and the guests upstairs were very noisy slamming doors throughout the night, every time the upstairs guests flushed their toilet the dripping would get faster indicating the water dripping through our light was probably contaminated toilet water HEALTH HAZARD! when I opened the bathroom door in the morning the stench which came from the bathroom was enough to make me gag. Enough was enough I was not prepared to even use the toilet, I actually walked into town to pay 40p to use the public toilets ! I texted the property manager demanding a full refund as this was not good enough and the fact we were expected to shower/ stay in a room with brown water dripping through the light was not on, and not to mention a fire hazard. We were lucky enough to find a lovely bed and breakfast in town and checked out 2 days early. I would never come back here, the owner agreed to a refund, however we are still waiting for this to come through to our account so time will tell! This was a very stressful experience staying here and I think this situation could have been dealt with and rectified alot better than it was!

Easy to find, under 10 min walk from station. Up some stairs to the street, which wouldn't be suitable for someone with leg problems. Very handy having a code to enter the place and bedroom, no worries of keeping a key safe whilst you're out and about. Very clean and lovely fluffy towels, lots of pegs in bathroom to hang things, radiators easy to turn up and down. Highly recommended

This is run by a property management company so no one at the property to help. Arrived and the room was exceptionally hot. We paid for a room with Patio. There is a patio but there was no handle on the door to get out so couldn't use it until a handle was fitted. Had to message the property management company who didn't apologise and said they would send someone the next day. As a customer I shouldn't have to be highlighting maintenance issues and because there is no one at the property this was not noticed. I highlighted that I had fire safety concerns as the door didn't open and the only root out was down the stairs and if the fire was down stairs there was no way out at the time. Their response was go down the stairs and out of the kitchen, which would not be a good idea as I had highlighted my concern was if the fire was downstairs. The fire notice also had a blank meeting point which I think should have been filled in even if the detail may have been elsewhere. I requested to be moved but this was declined too.  As the room is on the top of the first set of stairs i could hear other people going up an down the stairs which added to not getting much sleep. There were bird droppings on the seats and patio area once we could get out after the door after the handle was fitted on the 2nd day and cobwebs around the toilet area. It cost way over the top for what we got at £316 for 2 nights. As it was not as described, i couldn't sleep as I was worried about how to get out if there was a fire downstairs, it was dirty in some areas inside an out and was uncomfortably hot. I messaged them after my stay but got no response. Despite it not being what I paid for, as i would have been expecting to get onto the patio the property management felt there was no compensation required via Booking.com. It does have lovely views across St Ives Bay from the front and is located reasonably close so this is a positive. There is no Parking at the property but there is a car park close which costed us over £8 for 24 hours. There is a kitchen which can be used and a code for the entry system is sent prior to staying so could go in and out 24 hours. It could be a reasonable place to stay but needs a lot better Customer Service which for me was poor and a lot more attention to standards.

I was switched to this accommodation at the last minute when my booked stay became unavailable. On arrival I was very pleased. I found it very convenient for the Railway Station and St Ives Town Centre. There is a short, very steep climb, but it could be avoided by taking the longer way round if walking. The front of the property overlooks the harbour, with a stunning view. Access is by entry code. I received clear instructions in advance. The property was spotlessly clean and my room very comfortable, nicely decorated with shower, toilet and wash hand basin. I visited early in the season and there was plenty of heat to keep me cosy on the chilly evenings. There is a well equipped shared kitchen. The accommodation made my stay in the beautiful harbour town of St Ives very comfortable and enjoyable.

My partner and I booked our time at Ocean House for my birthday this February. Sadly, due to the Red Weather alert because of Storm Eunice we were unable to travel. We contacted our booking site to request a change or cancellation, they said they would speak to Ocean House's property management company to request this, we were aware we might have to pay more if we modified our booking but we were happy with that, it would be understandable. They rejected our offer and when I called them to enquire about this they said that their cancellation is up to 2 days before the booking, which is great but the weather warning was released the day before. They could not/ did not want to do anything for us and this just shows a complete lack of customer care. No, the weather is not either of our faults, but solutions can always be found, all other accommodation we booked for this trip was able to help us either by allowing a cancellation fee or a change of booking so it is very disappointed that no help could be provided for us. Unfortunate because of this, I will not be using this property management company's listing again and I will not recommend it. A bad experience makes all the difference sadly. I cannot comment on the facilities as I never got to visit them.
