I did check some of the reviews on here just before going and happily we had no problems at all. The staff were great they knew all about the food and the wine and were only too willing when we needed anything. We borrowed the ordinance map for the coastal walk into St Ives, well worth doing if you want... more

We enjoyed our stay the food was excellent and the rooms were as described cosy and comfortable. However the service was effecient rather than welcoming and there was not sufficient space for pre and post dinner drinks which we enjoy. This was not helped by the fact that there is limited space at the bar most of which was taken... more

Looked forward to enjoying a great meal at the end of a long day of walking. Despite good food and wonderful setting the whole experience was spolied by the rude, patronising attitide of the bar staff who made us feel so unwelcome and conspicuous as were heralded as '4 walk ins ' . It was clear that our meagre patronage... more

By telephone I tried to book a stay here during September '09, but was rather taken aback by the unfriendly attitude and the rather aggressive "we are very busy at the moment you know" comment, so took the matter no further. However, completely by chance, when down in Cornwall for our holiday in September, we stumbled upon The Gurnard's Head... more

Food mediocre and service indifferent at best, rude at worst. Sister hotel in Wales - Felin Fach - much better. This one cannot survive solely on its location. more

Gurnard's ead is in a great location in the middle of nowhere but is within walking distance to St Ives and Zennor. The room we stayed in (number 5) was a good size, well priced and although a bit of noise from the bar leaked through it was not enough to stop us sleeping. The food is excellent especially the... more

If you're looking to get away from the city, work, technology and everyday stress then this is a great destination. Mobiles don't work (joy) and it's right on a cliff walk that is apparently one of the UK's best. If you like plasma TVs and professionally interior designed rooms then this place might not be for you. It is seriously... more

What a disappointment! On paper it would appear to have everything you would want for a relaxing break in Cornwall. However it was hard not to feel slightly ripped off as the little extras which make a "top end" B & B were sadly missing. The saddest thing is that despite our 3 night £500 stay there was no one... more

Stayed at the Gurnard's Head for the second time. Love the atmosphere in the hotel, the location (which is really something!), the decor and general ethos with no telly and emphasis on peaceful, quality time. Had good food, gorgeous comfy bed, good service... One drawback: on going down for breakfast a member of staff asked if we'd had an unsettled... more

A great place to stay - middle of nowhere, no mobile signal, good food and beer and perfect base for walking the coast path. We went for an 'autumnal' break, having previously stayed here during the summer. A very relaxing and comfortable place no matter what the time of year. Only 'downer' was someone taking my walking boots (which, as... more
