Our room in the Victory Inn was lovely: quirky shape, wonderful old-fashioned walk-in cupboard, and a great position with flowering window boxes on the sills. The Victory Inn as a pub is fine but as a place to stay it leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms on first impression are fine, apart from the carpet in the bathrooms, but the approach does not give a good impression as the carpets are filthy. Spent a long weekend in The Victory Inn and although it is a lovely pub to drink and eat in I wouldn't recommend anyone staying there - not if you want to sleep. The Victory Inn is a welcoming pub mared by rude and offhand service in the upstairs alacarte restaurant. All the manager could say was that the staff had been out on a heavy session the night before and it showed!
