We had a very disappointing stay at Leeming House. The view from the terrace is without doubt one of the most stunning around Ullswater however you do require a certain standard of accomodation. Our stay fell short of our expectation and we were not the only guests that evening to feel the same way. Service in the hotel was poor/non... more

I booked at this hotel using the Hotel's website and later needed to cancel my booking wherupon I was told that my credit card had already been charged and I would be unable to cancel. This was a whole week before our visit and yet the Manager of the Hotel insisted that their Terms and Conditions associated with special rate... more

Spent a very enjoyable weekend here and walking the surrounding fells and guess what! I didn't die! Really nice room, not the best in the hotel, but clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Food was excellent and though service was a little slow at breakfast, our time was spent watching red squirrels on the bird feeder. Lovely grounds leading... more

I have two dogs and wanted a getaway for our wedding anniversary. I was impressed that they would welcome dogs and we were allocated a room that opens straight on to the grounds. The dogs loved it - especially the rabbits, there are lots on the grounds and they wanted to chase them. We had not taken them away before... more

To sit on the terrace of this hotel on a fine evening and look out over Ullswater to the hills beyond is sublime. And this is the most beautiful hotel in the most delightful of settings. However I can't help feeling that the edge was taken off an otherwise enjoyable stay by a number of problems. The first room they... more

Really lovely hotel set in gorgeous grounds. You can see on to the lake from all of the rooms at the back of the hotel and it's an amzing view. You can get down to the lake from the grounds of the hotel which is lovely. WE have dogs, i can't beleive they allow dogs in this hotel as it's... more

My hubby and I stayed at this fab hotel for a 3 night stay at the beginning of March. As a previous reviewer stated, this is a hotel for the "elderly" but I disagree that you have to be 70+. I am in my late 50s and have a very modern, young outlook on life, but I do like my... more

This is a great hotel for a Northern Lakes getaway. Very traditional country house style, log fires, great breakfasts, afternoon tea in the library. Staff really friendly and helpful. Beds large and rooms have good views of Ullswater. Minor criticism that some of the carpets look a bit scruffy, but overall I would definitely go back, and think it is... more

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights for our honeymoon between Christmas and New Year. It's a beautiful hotel, but you need to be 70+ to really fit in! The food is very fancy, a little bit too fancy for our tastes, and the liquidised pea drink we had before our starter really wasn't my thing!... more

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a 2 night, mid-week stay at Macdonald Leeming House, for 290 pounds inc. bed and breakfast. The hotel was beautiful with a garden that was truly stunning. The hotel staff warmly greeted us and then checked up on us to ensure we were happy with our room. The room itself could have... more
