Right next to beautiful hills and very near the stepping stones. Location is perfect for a walking break with the hills being quite gentle and nothing too strenuous. Ashbourne is quite quaint with nice tea shops. Hotel room was a good size and all you needed. with kettle and tv. The staff in the restaurant in the morning were awful... more

This hotel has obviously been very luxurious in the past, but it has past its best. The outside and reception areas are grand. The bedrooms we booked were fine, but in need of some TLC. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean with good tea making facilities and complimentary toiletries. However, the bathroom door had come off... more

This hotel was a big disappointment. It is in need of a complete refurbishment and definately a good clean. The bathroom door in our room had to be lifted up in order to close it and there was a big damp patch on one of the walls. The whole hotel smelt musty especially the settees in the reception area. The... more

Myself and partner came here for an overnight stay to celebrate our Engagement, which I informed reception staff when booking the accommodation. We Arrived on a Thursday morning fairly early (approx 10am) as we wished to take advantage of the good weather and go for a walk up Thorpe Cloude hill and in the surrounding countryside. We went into the... more

Have stayed at the Peveril dozens of times, on and off, for 20 years since the days when it was part of the Trust House Forte and then Heritage Hotels chains. I guess that it's fair to say that there are big elements of truth in the negative reviews on this site, particularly since the place just hasn't had much... more

What a shame! Glorious location just a shame the hotel interior and staff don't match. On arrival - we were initially met with a very surly receptionist who did not even bother to apologise when one of our room bookings was missing and merely tried to blame it on the web-site we had booked through! Not a great first impression.... more

What a beautiful place i thought as we approached the drive up to the hotel, when we got to Reception there was no one there! so we waited , a man appeared and walked towards the reception area where he answered the phone and had a little chat with the caller, leaving us waiting once again, when finished he didnt... more

How I wish we were the hotel inspectors! I visited with my daughter as we were interested in holding her wedding there-the location seems fantastic! On entry to the hotel at 12.30 approx we were kept waiting for around 10minutes until someone came to see us.I explained that we were interested in holding a wedding there and after a minutes... more

thinking this would be a cute and friendly hotel to finish off our trip to the peak district we were very bitterly disappointed. The staff were rude and indifferent to their guests while the rooms were in serious need of maintenance and smelt of damp. On the plus side, the location was gorgeous and had lovely views. Plus the bar... more

The hotel is situated in glorious countryside and stands on its own. It is in a peaceful area. The room which had a door onto the garden was large with a double and single bed and clean and modern. The ensuite whilst clean needed some maintenance. We felt throughout some maintenance was required. This applied especially to the garden furniture... more
