It's suprising that hotels of this poor standard can exist alongside the larger chains that have a better understanding of quality. Dreadful breakfast, surly staff, WIFI not in every room, expensive beer, no atmosphere and over-priced. The dreadful smell as you enter the hotel is a bad omen. The events manager doubles as the surly breakfast staff. Sheets and blankets... more

First impressions count. So as you pull in to the car park you are sure you've made a terrible mistake. The buildings look shabby and tired. Location is very handy for the airport or M5 motorway but is a long way from the City Centre. We unloaded the car to be greeted by 2 very friendly and efficient staff. There... more

Stayed here on business for 3 nights. The hotel is way out of Exeter close to the village of Pinhoe (station is walkable in 8 minutes, although the country lanes are unlit) and I'm not really sure what it's target market is apart from those wanting to stay close to the M5! The hotel looks like something from the 1960's... more

From the decor to the rather unpleasant smell in the lobby, I guessed we had made a mistake. The Bedrooms are tired, they are exhausted. more

I stayed here the other night on business. On entering my room, I was greeted with a musty smell. There were twin beds, one was much higher than the other. The covers were faded and very old and both beds mattresses had had their day. The whole hotel decor could do with a total refresh. The food in the restaurant... more

From when I walked in to when I left I was made very welcome. The decor of Gipsy Hill is a bit dated but if you are going to a place to look at the decor try Venice. The staff were great even sorting out some routes for me when I went running. The food is great wether from the... more

I am a wheelchair user, who requested, and was assured I would be placed in, a wheelchair accessible room. Several emails were exchanged with the property owner to confirm the room would be accessible. On arriving (after a 6.5 hour drive) I was on my way to the accessible room when the receptionist came running out of the building and... more

In July 2008, booked 11 rooms for special event in December, intended to have nice meal at the hotel and stay overnight. Rang two weeks' beforehand to confirm all was OK, and was told everything was in order. Then, only two days before, phoned and was told that I could not have ANY of the booked/confirmed rooms! The woman, who... more

We unlike many hotels and airlines do not operate an overbooking policy The reviewer booked 6 rooms for 2 nights. . Unfortunately the booking was enterered incorrectly on our booking system and we could only accommodate the first night. The reviewer had in fact booked in for one of our Christmas parties. We offered to outbook his group for the...

We arrived after a long jouney, tired and hungry. There was ample of FREE parking and easy access to the hotel. We were pleased the staff were so accommodating with late food and drink service. Nothing was too much trouble even though the kitchen was supposed to have closed. We ventured to our bedroom (No.2). We were delighted with a... more
