after reading the reviews on the site, was slightly concerned but needed a hotel close to motorway and airport. Followed directions on hotels web sites which were excellent, when slightly unsure due to lack of signs phoned hotel and was competenly directed by reception. Lovely little hotel, very individual, country style hotel, not a plastic clinical city centre usual. Very... more

On checking into this hotel, to what appeared to be a very nice, large room with four poster bed etc, I spotted a bed bug crawling along the top of the Four-Poster canopy!!! On further investigation I found it was not the only one! There was an infestation, a fact I highlighted immediately to hotel staff. I was immediately moved... more

The hotel is remotely located and a car is essential. On arrival the 1960’s style façade of the hotel, with it’s separately accessed extension situated across the car park, of similar build, gave a ‘well utilised’ perception; which was realised on entry. A rather cluttered reception desk with taped carpet to prevent a trip hazard, was actually very efficiently ‘manned’.... more

I would like to thank th writer for his review. I am glad he found the food to be excellent. I am sorry if there were matresses in the corridor. I can only think that we were were changing a room by placing an extra bed to meet a guest's requirements. We do have some antique furniture in the hotel,...

Had a great stay here. Staff couldn't do enough to help us. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. In all we'd go back again and i'd consider using the hotel for business travel also. Couldn't fault the stay in the slightest. more

Can't believe i actually had to pay to endure this stay! Knew it was going to be awful from the moment i approached the doors which were the most offputting i've ever had to walk through! A hideous stench greeted my nose as i entered and i felt like i was in 'The Shining'! The receptionist was the most invasive... more

.This guest stayed in a newly decorated room The room is large and has been fitted with 100% wool quality Axmister carpet (less than 6 months old) The meal for her companion meal was satisfactory. The free bottle of wine was indeed worth far more than the lasagne but unfortunately she was not satisfied. Breakfast is cooked fresh every morning...

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Gipsy Hill Hotel. We were there for a friends 50th Birthday and I have to say the hotel did the function very well, with the food in particular being very good. HOWEVER: We checked in at 8.30 on a Friday night, no one on reception, no bell, after waiting... more

Booked on late rooms and without checking trip advisor first, ormaybe I would not have bothered! However, although my single room was small, the bed was very comfy and the room was warm. The shower was old and plastic, the tv picture was grainy, but other than it it was ok for £60 per night, incl. a full breakfast selection.... more

Over forty of us spent a very enjoyable weekend at the hotel. While i agree that the hotel could use a facelift we found the food to be of a good standard, everything in the bedrooms worked and the staff couldnt do enough to please. Due to its location hotel could do with a courtesy bus and make more effort... more

Stayed here for three days for a course. Awful, basically. I'm trying to eat healthily - not so much as an apple or slice of cucumber in sight. At one buffet lunch we had the choice of pureed carrot, couscous, chips, rice as side orders. Puddings were not worth talking about. The only fruit came as decoration for the desserts... more
